Overview
The SelectaBeam SC-1000 is a highperformance active selectable multi-beam antenna operating in the unlicensed 5.35.725GHz band. Based on Plasma Antennas advanced beam-forming technologies, the cylindrical SC-1000 offers ultra fast switching between 12 high-gain directional beams for full coverage across 360 in azimuth. An optional omnidirectional mode is also available to support node discovery and registration scenarios. The SC-1000 provides in excess of 15dBi of peak directional antenna gain and over 13.5dBi at the inter-beam crossovers. This high-performance antenna is delivered in compact, lightweight form factor.
Applications
The SelectaBeam SC-1000 is ideally suited to applications in which flexible coverage across a 360 sector is required from a single radio. Example applications include:
Key Features
Excellent directional gain provides increased link budget, significantly enhancing network coverage and capacity. Fast beam switching enables high-speed time-division multiplexing of spatial channels on a sub-frame basis. Low sidelobes suppress
Fixed WiMAX (802.16d) and proprietary single-radio basestations Fixed and nomadic mesh network nodes (gateways, relays and access points) Point-to-multipoint military communications Public safety communications (e.g. major incident centres) Video surveillance and CCTV networks
Active Design
The SC-1000 is an active antenna incorporating distributed RF amplifiers to enhance receive sensitivity and boost transmitted power. With power amplifiers in the transmit chain and low noise amplifiers in the receive chain, the SC-1000 provides excellent linearity for enhanced link budgets in wireless communication systems. The SC-1000 combines high directional gain with 360 field of view within a robust, lightweight radome enclosure with minimal size and a modest overall footprint.
interference and improve signal-to-interference ratios key issues for wireless communication systems operating in the unlicensed bands.
Maintenance free - requires no calibration or on-going maintenance, minimizing total cost of ownership. Robust radome enclosure allows wide range of military, civil and homeland security applications.
