Alternative Work
Alternative Work
The objective of this alternative work is to provide students who cannot attend the film viewing session with
an opportunity to engage with ethical concepts and apply them in a different context. This assignment aims
to encourage critical thinking, analysis, and reflection on ethical issues.
Instructions:
Select three (3) films of your choice that raise significant ethical questions or present moral dilemmas. Make
sure the film is relevant to the subject of ethics and can be accessed via the online platform. Watch the
selected films independently, taking notes on the ethical issues portrayed, moral choices made by the
characters, and the overall ethical implications.
Write an analysis and reflection paper that addresses the following points:
a. Film Summary: Provide a brief summary of the film, its main characters, and the central ethical
issues presented.
b. Ethical Analysis: Identify and discuss at least three ethical dilemmas or challenges depicted in
the film. Analyze the reasons behind these dilemmas and examine how different ethical theories or
frameworks could be applied to evaluate them.
c. Character Analysis: Select two key characters from the film and analyze their ethical
development throughout the narrative. Discuss their motivations, moral choices, and the consequences of
their actions.
d. Personal Reflection: Reflect on your ethical standpoint and how the film impacted your
understanding of ethics. Did the film challenge any of your preconceived notions or raise new questions?
Discuss any insights gained or dilemmas you found personally thought-provoking.
e. Conclusion: Summarize your analysis and reflections, highlighting the key ethical issues and
their significance within the films.
Guidelines:
The paper should be well-structured, coherent, and written in clear, concise language. Aim for a length of
1,500 to 2,000 words for each, but feel free to adapt based on the depth of analysis required. Use appropriate
citations and references when discussing ethical theories, frameworks, or concepts. Make connections
between the film's themes and the broader ethical discussions covered in the course.
Submission:
Submit your analysis and reflection paper through the designated online platform or follow the instructions
provided by your instructor.
Note: While this alternative work does not replace the experience of a film-viewing session, it offers an
opportunity for students to explore ethical concepts and apply them in an alternative context. Remember to
select a film that aligns with the subject of ethics and provides rich material for analysis and reflection.
