Formative Assessment Instructions

Inquiry question: ‘Roman medicine was more advanced than Greek


medicine’. To what extent do you agree?
Criterion: A (i, ii), C (i, ii), D (ii)
Task: Create a 1-2 page infographic in which you compare and
contrast features of both Greek and Roman medicine (including
treatment and surgery).
To do this effectively, you should collect a range of relevant
information about aspects of medicine in both time periods based
on what you have learnt. At the end of your infographic you should
include a conclusion, providing your overall evaluation of the initial
inquiry question.

An infographic is a collection of imagery, charts, and
minimal text that gives an easy-to-understand
overview of a topic.

What makes an effective infographic?
1. A clear and logical layout.
2. Minimal amounts of text – not cluttered. Leave some white
space to make it easy to read.
3. A range of relevant information – keep it focused but make
sure it is informative and interesting to read.
4. Relevant images/diagrams/tables.
5. A range of key words and statistics.
6. A bright and attractive layout.
7. Some white space to make it easy to read.
8. A bibliography of sources.
9. A catchy headline.
10. Use no more than two different fonts.
