HOW TO DESCRIBE A THING: EXAMPLE

Appearance and parts:


backpack, handles, zipper, pocket, compartment,

This is my backpack. The color is navy and


it is made of sturdy materials. It has a
handle on the top. It also has an extra
pocket on the side to store a water bottle
and a zipped-compartment at the front.
ADJECTIVE ORDER

❗In describing an object, we can combine all the adjectives in one


sentence, but pay attention to their order.

1. Opinion
2. Size ❌ It is a rectangular, nylon, new, sturdy, big, navy
3. Age backpack.
4. Shape
5. Color
6. Origin
7. Material ✅ It is a big, new, rectangular, navy, nylon backpack.
8. Purpose

Adverbs: Adverb of manner (how):


Words that She walked quickly.

She walked yesterday. She walked daily.
Adverb of place (where):
She walked here. She put it there.
