Designing Institutional
Change and Improvement
Your typical training day will begin with an interactive lecture followed by
Collaborative Group Work (CGW).
CGW will help you to learn more actively and effectively (Murphy, Mahoney,
Chen, Mendoza-Diaz & Yang, 2005). This is because:
i. the group has more information than just one individual.
ii. the dialogue and interaction fosters learning and comprehension.
iii. you are better able to remember what you have learned through
group work.

Organising the CGW
2. Agree on the channel that the group will use for meetings.
• Choose from MS Teams, Skype, Facebook, Zoom, Google Meet or
any other platform that is familiar.
1. Be punctual.
2. Participate actively in the group. Contribute your views, your ideas, your effort,
and your expertise.
4. All members must take turns to present the group’s work during the Group
Presentation sessions (but not necessarily in the same session).
• Volunteer to present your group’s work.
• You will develop your presentation skills and build your confidence to
speak in front of an audience.
