QUESTION
Choose from your local context ONE private company and write a report for a collaboration with
another public entity to facilitate and support societal, economic, and environmental challenges. The
report needs to include a clear introduction of the chosen private company and public entity and the
main purposes of public-private partnership. It needs to identify the bases for collaborative advantage,
the challenges it is facing, and the outcomes of the collaboration (word limit: 2000 words).

1- What you need to consider before you start your TMA: Before starting your TMA, make sure to
do your own research and ensure that the information needed is available. This is very important
since the TMA does not only rely on course material but also on external resources. To do so,
you need to use search engines, such as Google Scholar, Google, Ask.com, Yahoo.com, etc. to
search for articles and reports that collaborative advantage or collaborative inertia, bases of
collaboration, different types of goals in such collaboration, and multicultural collaboration,
challenges that arise from multicultural collaboration. You need to interview at least one
member from the local context and make an initial contact with him early in the research
process, to ensure that the person is indeed willing to talk with you. Your answer should not be a
listing of ideas but rather a critical discussion of relevant elements. Recommendations are
expected in this regard at the end of your answer.

7. In the introduction, you may reflect on an overview of the importance of collaboration while
providing a briefing about the purposes of public-private partnerships.
8. The body text may be divided into two parts; one part explaining relevant course material
comprehensively from a theoretical point of view; the second part where you will provide a
briefing about collaboration between the private company and public entity and identify the
reasons for the collaboration.
9. The goal compatibility between the chosen private company and public entity, and
simultaneously arrange the network’s harmonious work.
10. The cultural challenges that arise from the collaboration between the private company and
public entity as well as suggested strategies to deal with these challenges.
11. The conclusion can summarize the discussion and open a discussion towards the importance of
collaboration to improve the status quo and the need however to set a good basis for such
collaborations.

comprehensive list of references as per Harvard style referencing).
1. THIS IS A GROUP WORK TMA. Each Group should consist of 3-4 students. Groups should be
formed from students in the same section. Each group should select a GROUP LEADER. The
group leader is responsible for contacting their tutor to get Approval for the TMA topic to avoid
duplication. Only the Group Leader should upload the TMA answer file on LMS before the cut-
off date. TMA weight: 20% of the total course grade (20 marks). 75% of the TMA mark is
awarded for the TMA report (15 marks), while 25% (5 marks) is INDIVIDUALLY awarded based
on a presentation of the TMA report by all group members.
2. Cut-off date: Specific date to be specified later by the deanship. If you feel that you are unable to
meet the cut-off date of the TMA because of unusual circumstances, please contact your tutor as
soon as possible to discuss a possible extension to the cut-off date. The exact cut-off date will be
assigned in due course.

- Chapters 1, 5, and 13.
4. Format: Write your answers in essay format. Failing to do so could result in grade deduction
from presentation marks up to 5 marks. You may, however, use bullet points, diagrams, tables, or
any graphs to support your arguments.
5. Plagiarism: Write your answers using your own words. Plagiarism will be penalized depending
on its severity and according to AOU plagiarism policy (Enclosed after these instructions you
will find the Arab Open University Rules of Cheating and Plagiarism).
6. Word count: Answers are expected to be within +/- 10% of the word limit. Answers that fall
below or above this range can lose up to 5 marks.
7. Referencing: Use the Harvard referencing style for in-text citations and make a table of
references at the end. Failing to do so could result in grade deduction of referencing marks up to
5 marks.
8. Research: Use a minimum of two additional sources of information. It is strongly recommended
that you use scholarly articles found in the E-library at LMS. You can lose up to 5 marks if you
do not use at least two external sources. In addition, although textbooks assigned in the course
may be used freely as references, you are required to use a minimum of 2 external sources . It is
recommended that you use scholarly studies found in the E-library link at the LMS. Failing to do

Copying other students’ notes or reports.
Using paid or unpaid material prepared for the student by individuals or firms.
Utilization of, or proceeding to utilize, contraband materials or devices in examinations.”
Examples of Plagiarism
Copying from single or multiple sources, this is where the student uses one or more of the following as
the basis for the whole, or a good part, of the assignment:
1. Published or unpublished books, studies, or reports
2. The Internet
3. The media (e.g.TV programmes, radio programmes or newspaper studies)
4. An essay from an essay bank
5. A piece of work previously submitted by another student
6. Copying from a text which is about to be submitted for the same assignment
