Excel: Instruments

The document summarizes the manufacturing process of Excel Instruments, which produces vacuum systems and components. It outlines the key steps as: 1) Designing and research & development to conceptualize systems according to client specifications. 2) Machining, CNC machining, and welding departments fabricate parts according to drawings. 3) Quality control ensures high quality of components. 4) Assembly, testing under vacuum, and final testing before systems are finalized and shipped to clients like IIT institutes across India for educational use.

MFG.: VACUUM SYSTEM & COMPONENTS

INDRUSTRIAL TRAINING
I] WHAT DOES COMPANY MANUFACTURE
II] CLIENTS & PROJECTS
III] PRODUCTION SEQUENCE
IV] MANUFACTURING PROCESS
V] WHAT WE LEARNED

KEY POINTS INCLUDED

What does company
manufacture
 Technical system for  Sputtering system:
educational use
 A sputtering system is a device used
such as. in the field of thin film deposition,
 Sputtering system specifically for physical vapor
deposition (PVD) processes. It consists
 Custom dies of a vacuum chamber, target
material, substrate holder, and power
 Standard dies supply.
 The system where
built on demand 0f
educational
organization
&university s for
tutoring purpose
and educational
use.
CLIENTS &
PROJECTS

 IIT BOMBAY
 IIT MADRAS
 i.e. IIT institute from across
the state.
 Projects:
 1.Arc melting system
 2.Evaporation system
 3.Sputtering system
 4.Pulse laser deposition
(PLD)system.
 5.Plasma enhance
chemical vapor
deposition (PECVD)
System.
 6. Customized system
PRODUCTION SEQUENCE
DESIGNING & (RESEARCH&
DEVLOPMENT)

 This step consist of

conceptualizing the
system /job/machine
according to
specifications
provided by client.
 The research &
development of such
parts with their design
brought down on
paper ;the system is
first built as 3D model
& then biforgated into
its components & their
design.
 Component drawing sheet
are given to each section
/department which will be
working on the system

 These drawing contain very

important key
measurement dimension &
specification according to
system the work will have
no difficulty while process in
going on.
MACHINING DEPARTMENT
1] LATHE & MILLING:
 Here the base/core
fabrication of
components take
place .any
physical/mechanic
al changes done to
components they
are done here.
 This department
produced project
specific & standard
components with
as high finishing as
a human labour
can provide.
2] CNC DEPARTMENT:
 This an upgrade of
previous
Department.
Modernization of
machine resulted in
manual lathe &
milling machine
converted into
computer
operated machine
with very high
accuracy.
 This is also the
reason of reduction
in labour cost &
labour themself.
3 Welding
Dept

 This is the department

where the parts
fabricated in previous
depts are welded in
place for permanent
stability.
 Here as well as high
accuracy was required as
, any kind of opening or
holes will result failure of
job ,resulting waste of
time ,job & work labour.
4] QUALITY CONTROL:
 The quality
control is an very
important step in
production of
system . This
department as the
name suggested
controls the
quality of
produced
components . The
whole moto of the
department is
quality over
quantity.
ASSEMBLY & TESTING
 Here the individual
components are
assembled
together & tested
with all of its
completeness.
 After the assembly
is done, the
complete system is
sent to vacuum
testing for any
leakage & then to
research &
development for
final testing.
FINALIZING & SHIPPING

 After the system is finished ;the client comes to

check weather their specification are fulfilled or
not and are they satisfied or not.

 After everything many time the system is shipped

to address disassembled as it may get damaged
if sent assembled.
THE END
