We are
We are the Communications Unit in DG CNECT. The D.4 Unit is a dynamic and highly visible unit responsible for
communicating the European Commission’s vision for Europe’s digital transformation by 2030 to the outside world. As digital
technology changes people’s lives in every imaginable way, we communicate on the vast work of the DG from ground-
breaking regulation in areas such as Artificial Intelligence, the Digital Services Act and the Digital Market Act to funding cutting-
edge research and funding some of the world’s fastest supercomputers.
We propose
A varied and interesting post as secretary to the HoU and the unit, combining administrative support with broader
organisational and planning tasks, including communication overviews and document handling.
• Provision of quality and timely service to the Head of Unit and other colleagues in the Unit. In particular dealing with corporate
tools such as Outlook, Teams, Ares, MIPS, Sysper, Webdor, Poetry and back-up on financial matters.
• Support the smooth organisation of daily work. Actively participate and support the preparation of important events as well as
meetings with externals. Coordinate the Unit’s input to corporate planning and reporting exercises as regards work programme,
missions, risks assessments etc.
• Keep the dedicated intranet webpages updated with relevant contact details.
This is a fun and interesting position that offers the possibility to be part of a close-knit and lively team which communicates on
all DG CNECT’s legislative and policy initiatives as well as research and implementing results to the media and the general
public.
We offer a position where you will interact with our four teams, working together to deliver the full panoply of communication
tools and channels to craft content for press, social media, online content and other communications outputs.

We look for
The successful candidate should be a team player who feels comfortable working in a young, dynamic team. The colleague we
are looking for should have experience with administrative functions. S/he should have good communication skills, good
understanding of communication and EU institutions’ environment and a strong sense of initiative as well as good interpersonal
skills. You will be working on a daily basis with colleagues throughout the DG.
A prior knowledge and understanding of digital policies would be an asset, as would a knowledge of how the European
Commission works.
An excellent command of English is a must and very good knowledge of French a strong asset.
Recruitment policy
Officials in function group AST/SC, with a type of post of the person "Secretary/Clerk", can apply for this job.
In the case of inter-institutional mobility, only officials in the function group AST/SC with grades from SC1 to SC6 can apply for
this job.
For officials working in another Institution than the Commission, a certificate confirming function group, grade and status as an
official has to be provided.
