1st COT in S.Y 2022-2023

This document outlines a lesson plan on solid figures in mathematics for 6th grade students. The objectives are for students to visualize, describe, identify, sketch and cooperate during group activities on solid figures. The lesson will introduce different solid figures through pictures, real objects and group activities. Students will identify properties of solid figures like faces, vertices and edges. They will also classify real-world objects as different solid figure types like prisms, pyramids, cylinders and spheres. The lesson aims to help students understand and recognize solid figures.

Semi - Detailed Lesson Plan

In Mathematics VI
EXPLICIT TEACHING

I - Objectives: at the end of the discussion, the students are expected to:
a. Visualize and describe the different solid figures;
b. Identify the faces, vertex and edges of a solid figure;
c. Sketches the different solid figures;
d. Display cooperativeness during group activity.

II - Subject Matter:
a. Topic: Solid Figures

c. Materials: pictures, real object, chart
d. Values: Active Participation

III – Procedure:
A. Preliminary Activities
a. Drill
The teacher will conduct a picture puzzle game. The class will be group into 3 groups.

b. Review
The teacher will call a student who want to answer the equation.

Add the following integers:

1. ( -8) + (-7) = -15

2. ( +11) + (+23) = + 34 or 34
3. (-43) + (+17) = -26
4. (+59) + (+73) = +14 or 14
5. (+102) +(-102) = 0
c. Motivation
The teacher will conduct a Word Hunt Game. The class will be divided into two groups.

d. Presentation
The teacher will use the picture puzzle that they formed and introduce the ” Solid Figures”

e. Setting of Standards

B. Discussion
a. Teaching Modeling
The teacher will use the picture puzzle and discuss the different solid figures with its vertices, edges and
faces of the following solid figures.

SOLID FIGURE – has three-dimensional object if they have length, width and height.
POLYHEDRON – a solid figure whose side are polygon.
PRISM – is a polyhedron that has two congruent parallel faces called base.

A cube is a prism
with a square base.
All its faces are
CUBE SQUARE 4 square.

Has two pentagonal

bases and five
PENTAGONAL rectangular lateral
PRISM PENTAGON 5 faces.

PYRAMID – is a polyhedron whose base is a polygon and the lateral faces are triangles.
