.Intelligent Street Light System Using Wireless Transmission
Abstract:
Street lights are the largest consumer of energy in the cities, using up to fifty percent of the city’s energy. An intelligent street light
management system supported LED lamps and wireless communication technologies are often designed and installed within the
cities. Though, it will have initial cost of investment for replacing the normal wired systems but many power are often saved by using
this technique An intelligent street light system can detect vehicles and vary the intensity of the road light by using LED lamps as per
the traffic flow. It also can help in monitoring and controlling of street light system and fault detection of the lamps through wireless
technology.

It automatically switches OFF lights whenever the car is passed SOLAR PANEL
away. In this project we control the intensity of street light. The
energy consumption is also reduced by using this because The solar panel is one of the most important part of a solar street
nowadays the manually operated street lights are not switched light, as the solar panel can convert solar energy into electricity
off even when the sun rises and also switched on earlier before that the lamps can use. The electricity generated from the solar

popularity as a dependable source for street lighting everywhere

5. SYSTEM ARCHITECTURE
In this project we are using solar array for generating power and
it will be stored into the rechargeable battery from that we are
giving power supply to the street lights using relays. In this
automatic mode operation we are using LDR Sensor (Light
Dependent Resistor) for measuring candlepower for switched
ON or OFF the road light using relays. The main principle of
LDR is when the sunshine intensity is low; light goes to get on
otherwise it’s getting to be OFF. For the efficient reduction of Figure.1. Street light system
power wastage IR (Infrared) Sensor is used. If any vehicle or
obstacle is detected using IR sensor at that point it'll check the
sunshine intensity using LDR sensor then light will continue or
OFF.
