For Immediate Release October 18, 2023

Branch County, Michigan – bp Pipelines North America regrets to report a release of


gasoline occurred from the River Rouge Pipeline at approximately 9:30 p.m. EST on
October 17, near the 1100 block of Bell Road at pipeline milepost at 138.44 in Branch
County, Michigan near the townships of Union City and Girard. The cause of the release
is unknown.

Notifications were made to agencies, including the National Response Center, Pipeline
and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration, Environmental Protection Agency
Region 5, Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy, and Branch
County Department of Emergency Management.

bp activated its Emergency Response Team and is working closely with first
responders. The safety and security of the community, the environment, our employees,
and the response team are our highest priority.
