COMMUNICABLE DISEASE
RA 11332 - "Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events
of Public Health Concern Act". An Act Providing Policies and Prescribing
Procedures on Surveillance and Response to Notifiable Diseases, Epidemics,
and Health Events of Public Health Concern, and Appropriating Funds Therefor,
Repealing for the Purpose Act No. 3573, Otherwise Known as the "Law on
Reporting of Communicable Diseases"
RA 11469 – “Bayanihan to Heal as One Act.” Declaring a national health
emergency throughout the Philippines as a result of the COVID-19 situation. In it,
Congress authorizes the President to exercise the necessary special powers, for
a limited time and subject to certain restrictions, to address a problem that poses
a clear and present danger to the people.
RA 1136 - An act reorganizing the Division of Tuberculosis in the Department of
Health.
RA 10767 - “Comprehensive Tuberculosis Elimination Plan Act”. An act
establishing a comprehensive Philippine plan of action to eliminate tuberculosis
as a public health problem and appropriating fund therefor.
RA 4073 - An Act Further Liberalizing the Treatment of Leprosy by Amending and
Repealing Certain Sections of the Revised Administrative Code.
Proclamation No. 499, s. 1989 – National Aids Awareness Day
RA 11166 - "Philippine HIV and AIDS Policy Act." An Act Strengthening the
Philippine Comprehensive Policy on Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and
Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) Prevention, Treatment, Care, and
Support, and, Reconstituting the Philippine National Aids Council (PNAC),
Repealing for the Purpose Republic Act No. 8504, Otherwise Known as The
"Philippine Aids Prevention and Control Act of 1998", and Appropriating
Funds Therefor.
RA 9482 - "Anti-Rabies Act of 2007." An act providing for the control and
elimination of human and animal rabies, prescribing penalties for violation thereof
and appropriating funds therefor.
ENVIRONMENTAL LAWS
RA 8749 - "Philippine Clean Air Act of 1999." A comprehensive air quality
management policy and program which aims to achieve and maintain healthy air
for all Filipinos.
RA 9275 - "Philippine Clean Water Act of 2004." Was promulgated a year after
to provide for a policy that will ensure pursuit of economic growth consistent with
the protection, preservation, and revival of the quality of the country's fresh and
brackish waters.
PD No. 856 - "Code on Sanitation of the Philippines." The objective of this
Code on Sanitation is the improvement of the way of the Filipinos by directing
public health services towards the protection and promotion of the health of the
people.
RA 9003 - "Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000." The law
provides for a comprehensive ecological solid waste management program by
creating the necessary institutional mechanism and incentives, appropriating
funds, declaring certain acts prohibited, and providing penalties.
PD No. 1152 - "Philippine Environment Code." This Act makes provision for
the protection of the environment of a broad sense. Its provisions are divided into
Titles, the major part of them dealing with specific aspects of environment
protection.
RA 6969 - "Toxic Substances and Hazardous and Nuclear Wastes Control
Act of 1990." To monitor and regulate the importation, manufacture, processing,
handling, storage, transportation, sale, distribution, use and disposal of chemical
substances and mixtures that present unreasonable risk or injury to health or to
the environment in accordance with national policies and international
commitments.
PD No. 825 - "Code on Sanitation of the Philippines." Providing penalty for
improper disposal of garbage and other forms of uncleanliness and for other
purposes.
