Cube Iwork10 Flashing Guide
Cube Iwork10 Flashing Guide
AAA: From techtablets forums I have used Dan guide, Laura tips and suggestions and translated
the Chinese version of the guide. This doc is the summary of all the above + my experience in
reinstalling the system.
This is the method of reinstalling dual OS (Win10+android) in my Cube iwork10 that I followed and
after 1 sleepless night WORKET FOR ME!
Hope it helps.
What is needed :
1. Downloaded from techtablets.com "CUBE IWORK10 ULTIMATE (I15T) dual boot files”
currently http://techtablets.com/downloads-drivers-roms/ and unzip it to a computer;
2. USB HUB
3. Keyboard and mouse
4. 2 USB of at least 1Gb and 8GB
5. A notebook/PC
The 2nd step is to install the software from intel to flash the tablet and install android:
On tech tablets every guide talks about PHONE FLASH TOOL (that works for windows @32bit.
And then on the popup window interface installation go ahead with the installation step by step
Cause I was using on my PC windows 10 @ 64 bit I used another software (found on intel
website through google):
- INTEL PLATFORM FLASH TOOL LITE 5.5.2.0 (that includes DNX device usb drivers)
- INTEL ANDROID DEVICE USB DRIVERS (that was recommended and request to work
with the above)
I think this is simply a new software release from intel and the evolution of the original Phone flash
tool software….
3rd step: Android installation:
Click the "Browse" button to select "Android" " flash.json" File under the first directory previously
renamed Android1, and at the config option select “recover"
The progress bar on the tool to represent 100% of the wire brush process is complete
:
Wait until you installation is 100% complete and it will reboot into Android.
The installation of Android is done! It is in Chinese so you have to change it to your language. But
it works perfectly with an allocated hard disk drive of abt 20 gb (abt 15 free).
Do not panic GOOGLE PLAY STORE will arrive after you have upgraded the firmware!!!
Do not know if you can upgrade it now or not. I have done it after having successfully reinstalled
win10….
If during on/off of the tablet you find the dual so choice always use android for now.
2. You will find sub-directory named USB1 and USB2 That will be used to reinstall Win10
VERY IMPORTANT: in the USB1\Scripts directory you have to edit the file main.cmd and
modify (put REM before the lines) or just remove these 2 lines:
@echo select volume “0”>>x:\winpart.txt
@echo attributes volume set hidden>>x:\winpart.txt
(note that they may be more than 1 occurrence of each, do it to every one of them)
3. "USB1" has to be inserted in a SUB key for the installation of the system. The USB key has
to be at least 1GB, and to be formatted FAT32, and renamed "WINPE".
To format it FAT32 you can use the tools of windows in your PC.
I used diskpart under windows with the following command:
- Run CMD as admin
- Diskpart
- List disk (see what number is your usb)
- Select disk <usb number>
- Clean
- Create partition primary
- Select partition 1
- Active
- Format fs=fat32 quick
- Assign
- Exit
PS: remember to rename it WINPE
Then copy the directory and files under USB1 to the root of the WINPE USB1 Key
4. Another USB key (8GB+) will be formatted as NTFS and named "WINPE"
To format it NTFS you can use the tools of windows in your PC.
I used diskpart under windows with the following command:
- Run CMD as admin
- Diskpart
- List disk (see what number is your usb)
- Select disk <usb number>
- Clean
- Create partition primary
- Select partition 1
- Active
- Format FS=NTFS
- Assign
- Exit
Then copy all files "USB2" folder directory to the root of WINPE USB2 just formatted
5. Connect the tablet to the USB HUB and the to the HUB: USB1 – keyboard – mouse –
USB2 is not connected now to ther USB HUB
Note that with all the 2 USB connected I have not been able to reinstall win10… cause I think
the procedure is not able to identify witch WINPE USB key has to be used…. so this is my
procedure and it worked for me
PS: The PC is not used for win 10.
6. Power on the tablet and then press the F7 key on the keyboard:
You will see the above screen and you have to select your USB1 as UEFI. Use arrow keys on the
keyboard to select USB1 disk (shown as red icon, usually you will see the name of the usb
manufacturer, press ENTER and it will start to flash.
7. Alternatively instead of step 6 you can Power on the tablet and then press the ESC key on
the keyboard. You will enter the entire BIOS software and under the BOOT, you have to
choose to select the USB1 as a start for the system (you have to select not the FIXED
BOOT OPTIONS, but the second level BOOT OPTIONS.) you you have only the USB1 in
the Hub it is simplier to identify the USB to use to reinstall the system. The save and exit.
Whatever step you have done (6 or 7) the system will start to automatically install WIN10 in the
Tablet, and you will see the following screen:
VERY IMPORTANT
After the process has started insert the USB2 in the HUB.
PS: with all the USB1 & 2 in the HUB the process was insuccessuflly… by starting with USB1 and
then inserting USB2 the installation worked... at least for me.
After running the entire process is completed, the machine will automatically shut down, write exit
and the system will shut down.
Press the power button to turn on the machine again.
After having finished to reinstall windows … you can switch to android and upgrade android
firmware through OTA and get the google play store.
FINISHED!!!!
