Ch1 2

1. The motion of a charged particle in a magnetic field experiences a magnetic force Fm = qu × B. This force is perpendicular to both the velocity u of the particle and the magnetic field B. 2. When a conductor moves through a magnetic field, it experiences an induced electromotive force (emf) according to the equation ε = -dφ/dt, where φ is the magnetic flux through the conductor. 3. For a rectangular loop of wire moving with constant velocity u perpendicular to a uniform magnetic field B, the induced emf is given by ε = BuA, where A is the area of the loop and u is the velocity.
