Drilling Mud Circulation System

The drilling fluid circulating system is like a


close loop electric circuit through which
drilling fluid (i.e. mud) can travel from the
surface to all the way downhole and back to
its initial point
And its main function remove the rock
cutting from the well
The drilling mud travels
The mud turn begins from the steel tanks to the mud
pump then it completes its turn to bottom passing
through the (Discharge line /stand pipe /Rotary house
/swivel/Kelly/Drill pipe /Drill collar /Bit).in the order
After that the mud will returns leaden with rock cutting
through the Return line to the Shale shaker how removes
the cutting rocks then it will complete to Mud tanks
throw the Desalter ,Desander and Degasser which we
shall know later

What's the Mud tank
It's an open top container that is made of square
shaped steel plates with cone shaped on bottom
The circulation begins here in mud tanks. crew
members prepare the mud in Mud tanks and make it
ready for circulation
It has many uses, sizes and different shapes of its uses
for mix, treat, and store drilling fluids, which makes
them extremely important to the oil and gas
industries
Desilters and Desanders
Desanders and Desilters are solid control equipment with a set
of hydrocyclones•1 that separate sand and sand from the drilling
fluid in drilling Rigs . Desanders are installed on top of the mud tank
following the shale shaker and the degasser, but before the desilter.
Desander removes the abrasive solids from the drilling fluids which
cannot be removed by shakers. Normally the solids diameter for
desander to be separated would be 45~74μm, and 15~44μm for
desilter.

function is to raise the drilling fluid from the
discharging line to the rotary hose
Return Line
A trough or pipe that is placed between the surface connections at the
wellbore and the shale shaker and through which drilling mud flows on
its return to the surface from the hole. Also called flow line.
