Let’s Elaborate
A series circuit is a circuit where there is only one path from the source
through all of the loads and back to the source. This means that all of the
currents in the circuit must flow through all of the loads.
6
A parallel circuit is a circuit in which there are at least two independent
paths in the circuit to get back to the source. In a parallel circuit, the
current will flow through the closed paths and not through the open paths.

Directions: Convert the single line diagram of the 2 circuits below into a
two-line diagram to show the actual connection of wires. Draw your answers
on a bond paper and attach it here or you may send it to your teacher. You
may copy the design in the “Let’s Elaborate” part but you have to modify it
based on the given circuit connections.

Let’s Extend
Directions: Convert the single line diagram below into a pictorial diagram.
The bulb A is controlled by a 1-way switch (S1) while the bulb B is controlled
by 3-way switches (S3W) in two different locations. The drawing must have
the circuit breaker, electrical boxes, lamp holders, switch, conduits, and other
materials that are visible when sketching a pictorial diagram of a lighting
circuit. Use your learned skills in converting a single line diagram into a two-
line diagram and connecting the different electrical materials. Draw your
answer on a separate sheet of bond paper, make your sketch neat and
accurate.
