HP software offers you the choice of being notified before an Internet connection occurs. Plus, you can
choose whether or not to install certain components.
HP is committed to protecting your privacy and the integrity of your computer system, especially when
using your Internet connection. Data transmitted from your computer by HP will be used to determine if
any updates are needed and to match the information provided with how you use your HP products. Your
name, address, or e-mail address will not be collected without your approval.
Some data may be used in an anonymous and/or aggregate form to allow HP to improve the quality of its
products and services. This data may be transferred to a HP entity that may be located overseas.
The IP address of the sending computer will be used only to enable a secure connection over the
Internet.
Please note that some of the following software applications may not be included with all products.
HP Product Registration
By default, HP Product Registration begins automatically at the conclusion of the software installation. In
order to enable this automatic product registration, the software collects the following information about
your specific product and computer system:
product model number/name/series
serial number
computer operating system
operating system language and region settings
product service code
The software will connect to the online registration site for your specific HP product, and then pass this
information along, enabling an easier product registration process.
To prevent HP Product Registration from running and connecting to the Internet, uncheck “Register this
product with HP” at the end of the software installation.
HP Update
Out-of-date software can sometimes hinder product installation or performance. HP Update checks for
software updates regularly, helping you learn about new software when it becomes available. Plus, it
offers immediate download and automatic installation. HP Update helps you conveniently keep HP
software current, both on your computer and your HP printer.
In order to improve the HP Update program, HP Update also collects log files created during HP software
downloads and installations. This information is used to improve the success of future updates. Users
have the option of viewing the information in the log files and approving the transmission. This data is
tracked anonymously. No unique identifiers are attached to customer data by HP Update.
If you agree to participate, the software may occasionally connect to HP when you are online to transmit
the following types of data (with your permission):
information about your computer system, such as operating system, amount of memory, region,
language, and IP address
information about your HP products, such as product model and serial number
information on how you use your HP product, such as number of pages printed, print mode,
media, ink or toner brand, and types of files printed.
additional technical information that varies by product
The information gathered is used in an anonymous and aggregate form. This transmission should have
negligible impact on processing and connection speed. HP may use this information to design better
products.
HP ePrintCenter
An icon ("shortcut") providing a link to HP ePrintCenter online may be placed on your desktop (may not
be available or installed for some HP printers). If you have an Internet-connected printer that supports HP
ePrint Web Services, HP ePrintCenter enables you to see your printer's status, add and remove print
apps, and manage ePrint settings and job history from any Web browser, at home or on the go.
When you access HP ePrintCenter online, the following data may be sent from your computer to improve
your overall experience and to pre-populate settings automatically:
location (current pc setting)
language (current pc setting)
printer model number
