Structure of Manuscript: Perceptions of

Medical Students of AI-integration in


Clinical practice and Medical Education.
Introduction:

 Providing an overview of Artificial intelligence advancements in various fields, focusing


on healthcare.

 AI integration in healthcare is accelerating with applications in medical diagnosis,


treatment plans, personalized medicine, virtual assistants, and more.

 Highlighting the importance of Physicians as gatekeepers for integrating these


technologies into mainstream practice. Their lack of readiness could hinder adoption.

 Highlighting medical students’ preparedness and how it will impact adoption in an era of
prolific AI usage.

 Highlighting the need of medical students’ knowledge, expectations, concerns assessment


and the need of training regarding healthcare AI.

 Identifying gaps in existing literature that the current study aims to address.

 Stating the research objectives and significance of the study

Methodology:

 We will use cross sectional study design.


 The target population would be medical students enrolled in different medical colleges in
KPK, Pakistan.
 The sample size would be calculated using statistical tests and stratified sampling
technique would be employed.
 A self-administered questionnaire would be developed in view of previous studies and
insights from medical educators. This survey form would be developed using software
SurveyMonkey. It will be distributed via social media and emails to medical students
fulfilling the inclusion criteria.
 This study would measure variables such as knowledge, attitude, awareness, years of
medical training and demographic factors.

Inclusion & Exclusion Criteria


 All medical students enrolled in different medical colleges across KPK are included in
this study.
 All medical students of other provinces and allied health sciences are exempted from this
study.

Ethical Considerations:

o Necessary ethical approval will be sought from the institutional review board of Bacha
Khan Medical College.
o Informed consent and participants confidentiality will be made sure.

Data Collection:

o In this phase, data will be collected, ensuring data completeness and quality.
o Progress will be periodically monitored and managed to achiever the desires sample size.

Data Analysis:

o Descriptive statistical tests, inferential statistics and regression analysis would be


employed.
o The collected data will be analyzed to assess medical students’ knowledge, attitude, and
preparedness to AI integration in clinical practice and medical education.

Results:

o The key findings of the study will have to presented in a concise manner in this phase.
o Tables, charts, graphs will be used to illustrate the results in an effective manner.

Discussion:

o In this phase, results are interpreted and compared with already existing literature.
o Implications of the findings are also discussed for medical education and healthcare
practices in KPK, Pakistan.
o The strengths and limitations of the study are also discussed.

Conclusion:

 The study will be summarized during this phase


 The significance of the study’s findings in advancing medical education and clinical
practice is also discussed.

Recommendations:
 This study would offer recommendations for medical institutions and policymakers to
enhance medical students’ training in healthcare AI.
