What is Customer Central?
Introducing Customer Central: the powerful solution that serves as a central
hub for implementers and customers to manage across tenants with ease.
Customer Central operates as an optional, separate Workday tenant that sits on
top of all customers tenants, but unlike customer-specific tenants, it does not store
any customer data. It is only meant to provide organizations a means for managing
other tenants and give access to its many migration tools.

Tools available in Customer Central:

— Configuration Catalog — this provides customers with preconfigured content that has been created to provide
a starting point to support:
• Time saving during deployments
• Continued advancement of the customers experience after go-live
— Tenant Health Dashboard - supports Implementation and Sandbox tenants and displays:
• An availability status of each of the tools in the Customer Central tenant
• Multifactor authentication information
• Information relating to the setup of each user in the tenant

Currently, Customer Central serves various purposes. Its key functions include:

— Housing Workday-provided tools to migrate data and configuration between tenants using Object
Transporter 2.0.
— Enriching your customer tenants with factory default configuration from WD Setup.
— Managing user access to migrate configuration between tenants and comparing data between them.

Customer Central is available at no additional cost to all customers. Whether you are a new or existing customer,
you can take advantage of this tenant without incurring any extra fees.

New customers can start experiencing the benefits of Customer Central immediately, as all new accounts are
automatically provisioned with the solution as of 1/15/2018.

For our existing customers, named support contacts can easily request access to Customer Central within the
Workday platform.

Request Customer Central access
To request access to the Customer Central tenant, named support contacts can
follow the instructions outlined in the Customer Central Tenant Access Request

Once submitted, Workday will create the tenant and provide you with temporary
Workday tenant owner (wd-tenantowner) credentials. These credentials are valid for
60 days, giving you ample time to set up your new account.

As the tenant owner, you will be responsible for setting up Customer Central Security
Administrator and Customer Central Administrator accounts. These accounts will
help you manage and maintain your Customer Central Tenant. Once these accounts
are established, it is recommended that you create a backup account for each to
ensure that your tenant remains secure and well-managed at all times.

Understanding Customer Central user types
Customer Central provides three different types of accounts, each with specific permissions and
responsibilities. It is important to understand these types of users to properly manage your
organization’s Customer Central tenant:

USER USER

To manage security settings, Customer Central requires a Security Administrator account. This
user type provides access to a unique set of features unrelated to those of a Customer Central
Administrator or a Customer Central user account. However, it doesn’t provide data migration
or configuration permissions.

Customer Central requires a Customer Central Administrator account to manage user

accounts. This user type provides you with the ability to manage your tenants and user access.

Customer Central User accounts can be created for both implementers and customers. While
Workday doesn’t limit the number of users you can create, please note that all Customer
Central Users can migrate Configuration Packages from the Configuration Catalog and use
Object Transporter 2.0.

Customer Central Guidebook 4

Configure Customer Central
Once you have finalized your Customer Central user types, you can begin the configuration process. To do so,
simply log in to Customer Central as wd-tenantowner. This will grant you access to the “Create Security
Administrator” task, which you will complete to establish a Security Administrator account. Don’t forget to create
at least one backup Customer Central Security Administrator account.

Next, access the “Create Customer Central Administrator” task to establish a Customer Central Administrator
account. Once these tasks are complete, you can start creating your Customer Central User accounts.

When you have successfully created your accounts, it’s recommended that you deactivate your tenant owner
account, wd-tenantowner. Please note that this account will automatically deactivate after 60 days if you do not
choose to disable it yourself.

Notes to keep in mind when setting up your Customer Central tenant:

— Workday recommends that the Customer Central Security Administrator and Customer Central Administrator
be different users to ensure maximum security and control over your tenant.

— The Customer Central Administrator has all the permissions of the Customer Central user and can manage
all aspects of the tenant, including creating and managing users, configuring settings, and more.

— The Security Administrator has the ability to convert accounts and is the only Administrator account that can
reset passwords.

— If the Customer Central Administrator or User is also an implementer, additional features are enabled, such
as advanced loads, to help streamline and automate complex processes.

Customer Central Account Creation

When it comes to configuring and setting up your Customer Central account, there’s no need to go it alone.
Alight is your trusted partner for initial account creation, including creating:

— Security Administrators
— Customer Central Administrators
— Customer Central Users

Considerations to think about:

It’s important to note that Customer Central assumes a matching username between two tenants is the same
person and will authenticate to the source and target tenant as the current user. To avoid confusion, we
recommend a sample naming convention that includes the user’s name and role.

For example, Security Admin Logan McNeil’s username could be lmcneil-Sec-Admin, while Customer Central
Admin Betty Liu’s username could be bliu. And for Customer Central Users, it’s important to ensure that their
usernames match how they are set up in the customer tenant.

Choose Alight as your partner for Customer Central account creation and let us help you streamline the
process while maintaining best practices.

Ongoing Governance
Governance routine:

Effective ongoing governance in Customer Central is critical to ensure optimal

system performance and security. To do this, it is important to establish a robust
routine.

As the Security Administrator, you have the responsibility of creating and

maintaining other Security Administrators, resetting passwords, converting user
account types, and configuring tenant security and authentication policies. These
tasks are necessary for maintaining the security of your Customer Central tenant.

As the Customer Central Administrator, you have the power to create and maintain
both Customer Central Users and Customer Central Administrators. With this role,
you can manage tenant connections and grant or revoke user access to various
tenants. By doing so, you can optimize your business practices and ensure that
access to your tenants is granted only to authorized personnel.

By executing these tasks efficiently and effectively, you will be able to maintain the
integrity of your performance, streamline system operations and ensure your
organization can continue to leverage the full benefits of Customer Central.
