FIRE AND ICE -Robert Frost

Study the stanza and answer the questions :

Answer:
a.The poet thinks that there is enough hatred among people in the world. This hatred
among people in the world. This hatred will melt the fabric of society and the whole world
come to an end.

Ans:-The poet initially agrees with those who think that fire is the main force of
destruction. But at the end of the poem he says that both fire and ice are equally
destructive and powerful.

Ans:- ‘Fire’ stands for desire that make some one greedy and selfish. Another force ‘Ice’
stands for hate that causes people to be rigid, unmoving and cold.
DUST OF SNOW

Ans:-The poet was going some where in a snowy morning. He was upset. All the trees were
covered with snow. A crow sitting on a Hemlock tree shook the tree that some dust of snow fell
on the poet and it changed his mood & he felt unburdened and relaxed..
