My name is MUHAMMAD Anas and I am a permanent resident of PAKISTAN. Born on 12th May 1998 as
second child of my father, Mr. Gulistan Hussain and mother, Mrs. Farhat Yasmeen, I have an elder sister
and a younger brother
My father is working in Property field and my mother is a Housewife. My elder brother have completed
intermediate in Computer science.
I completed my Secondary Education Examination (SEE)- Grade 10 govt. High English Medium School ,
Moorat, securing 82% marks in 2015. I joined Cambridge International Secondary School and college,
one of the most reputed high college of Talagang, and graduated my XI and XII with a decent mark 72%
in 2017.In 2018,I joined Arid university,Rawalpindi, one of most good university for Information
technology and Computer Science.
After completion of my high school, I took a while for me to study and understand myself where I was
able to acknowledge my strength and goals. It didn’t take me long to understand that I needed good
education to accomplish my goals and a competent school for education.
It was really tough for me to decide where to study. After a lot of researches, frequent seminar visits,
webinars, and many sleepless nights, I decided to study in Murdoch University, Australia. My decision
was well supported by my brother as he is aware of the quality education that Australia provides.
With a strong desire to pursue my higher studies in Australia, I also started preparation my English
proficiency. I have certificate from my university and also from language-cert in English
I want to study cyber security and I am not sure that if I can achieve my full potential due to poor
delivery of education in Pakistan.
I have heard from seniors that when it comes to technical programs like computer science, Master’s
Degree students are often taught by Master’s degree graduates due to the lack of qualified teachers.
A research-based education is very little practiced in Pakistan. Education system in Pakistanis book-
focused where one can pass the exams by memorizing notes, old questions and books rather than any
research or practical projects. I have been educated this way all years through.
Not to name in particular, I visited number of local colleges which are known as top colleges of Pakistan
but I was not convinced about their labs and other support activities.
Even employers in Pakistan these days prefer foreign graduates over the graduates from Pakistan. I
think the curriculum, teaching methodology, infrastructure of practical labs etc. which are comparatively
poorer in Pakistan are the major reasons behind the employers giving priority to the foreign graduates.
Furthermore, with the intensive research, I compared the labs for computer studies here and abroad
and couldn’t convince myself with one strong point to study here in Pakistan. The world has become a
global village and Pakistan is a part of it.
There are many renowned multinational companies operating here in Pakistan like NETSOL
Technologies,System limited,Arpatech United Sol etc. and I don’t think that the degree from Pakistan
will put me in the competitive position. My dreams are high and I need the same kind of education to
accomplish them.Furthermore, we can experience political activities in each and every field here in
Pakistan and educational institutions are not an exception. Universities shut down for an indefinite time
due to strikes every year.
I want a positive environment to study which is free from politics and only focuses on providing quality
education to students and this is also one of the reasons why I opted for foreign education.
Through all of the researches I have done for studying abroad, I have found Saudi Arabia to be a right
match for me. I attended various educational fairs, visited many consultants and also took some
suggestions from my elders.
After my endless efforts, I came up with four countries in my head. They were Australia, USA, UK and
Canada. There is no doubt that all these countries have set their own flag for providing quality
education. Some of the Canadian universities like University of British Columbia, University of Toronto,
and McGill University really impressed me.However, I crossed out Canada from my list when I found out
that they have higher academic requirements for admission.
I have explored my possibilities in the USA. I attended various educational fairs and also went to United
States Education Foundation (USEF) and learned a lot about US education. I did some research about
few universities in USA such as, Chapman University, Howard University, Bucknell University and
Villanova University.
All these universities fees were above very high fees and no scholarship for International student, quite
more expensive in comparison to other universities unless I could win some decent amount of
scholarship which require high scores in SAT I and SAT II.
In addition, they have four years degree which means a year worth of time and money more in
comparison to education in Australia. UK could have ended being my destination but again the high
living expenses were the key factors to cross me out UK from my list.
I choose Saudi Arabia over these countries considering the pros and cons of studying in these countries.
Saudi Arabia offered me everything I had been looking for. It’s a safe and sound country which provides
top notch education at affordable price. My conducive environment and weather, other recreational
activities besides studies and much more to explore are also the important factors because of which
Saudi Arabia stood on top of my list.
There is no point in denying a fact that Saudi Arabia Education System is regarded to be one of the most
impressive in the world and it has been maintaining its high standard where the government carefully
regulates the education system.
The hospitality in Saudi Arabia has always been highly regarded and I am pleased to know about how
warmly Saudi Arabia welcome international students.
I did plenty of researches on the internet and talked to many individuals who have proper insights
regarding the universities in Saudi Arabia.
KAUST University is a right match for me from various aspects in addition to tuition fees. The program
offered includes all the high-level computer courses such as which would help me learn about different
aspects of software development process.
Also, the university provides amazing quality in classes with expert and highly experienced teachers. I
have found that the graduates of KAUST University rated high stars for teaching quality for years in a
row which means I can be assured of quality there.
Particularly stating, KAUST University is a number 1 university in computer science for teaching quality,
skill development and student teacher ratio. On top of that, I can get various industry-based learning,
internship opportunities along with professional development workshops ensuring more-than-books
leaning.
KAUST University is well equipped with modern technologies, presence of quality student mentors,
accessible academic faculty and staff are the supporting factors to choose KAUST is listed on the CRICOS
which means quality in education. KAUST University promises to give close attention to each
international student.
With small class-size, highly qualified faculty, highly techno friendly environment and flexible course
structure, make KAUST the best suit for international students like me. Also, KAUST provides various
mentor-ship programs.
Hence, looking at above discussed various aspects like course structure, reputation, quality of education,
multiple intakes, tuition fee, teaching method, I am personally very much impressed with KAUST
University.
Reasons for choosing Computer Science
My obsession of pursuing degree in Computer science is driven by my deep interest and curiosity about
software development. From my childhood till today, I have always been fond of various mobile games
and different applications.
As I was understanding more about computers and Computer Science during my high school, I was
assigned a project by my computer teacher. I was able to successfully program a calculator using a basic
programming language. This project really inspired me and made me believe that I can do something in
software development. As per my teacher’s suggestions, I started following up YouTube tutorials and did
programming on my own. By the end of my high school, I was already into it and had learnt a lot of
things about programming. I also had developed snake and puzzle games with the help of tutorials. I
really enjoyed what I did with my computer all the time.
Another important reason is the scope of Computer Science. It offers demanding and lucrative career.
Studying Computer Science and specializing in Software Development will make me more creative,
competent and provide me a whole lot of information which will also directly help me land a better
job.My goal now is to become a Software Developer and make various software as market demands. In
my late run, I have a dream of establishing a software company in Pakistan and take its name in the
international market.
I want to create jobs for thousands of youths in this field. One might think that this dream of mine is not
an easy one to fulfill and may be currently far away from the grounds of reality but I am aware that the
history of the successful entrepreneurs of this field like Mark Zuckerberg, Steve Job, Larry Page, Sergey
Bin and others used to be an ordinary person like I am today but had big dreams like I do today. I truly
would like to do all I can as a software developer in Pakistan.
Yours Sincerely,
