KS3 Flightpaths

Flightpath Target Grade


Every student in Key Stage 3 is given one of three Flightpaths for each subject (Developing, Meeting or Exceeding). Students’ Flightpaths give an indication of the progress expected at this
stage of their journey towards GCSEs in Year 11. Flightpath Target Grades are determined based on students with a similar profile nationally though there is no limit to the grade that each
student can achieve.

Working Towards Grade


For each subject, the Working Towards Grade shows whether students are on track to meet their Flightpath Target Grade. These are divided into All, Most or Some to show how much of the
necessary knowledge and skills they have mastered for each subject within their Flightpath. Students’ WTG is based on a range of information including their most recent assessment as well
as other assessments completed over the course of the year.

KS3 Flightpath Criteria


The following table outlines how the Flightpaths at KS3 equate to different Grade ranges at GCSE with a Grade 9 being the highest Grade students can achieve. For instance, ‘Meeting Most’
of the knowledge and skills required at any given stage of KS3 would suggest that a student is on track to achieve a Grade 5 at GCSE which would be considered to be a ‘good pass’. All
students are encouraged to be ambitious and strive to fulfil the best of their potential.
