ROUTE 2 OPTION

When configured with RTE 2 option, two

independent routes (RTE 1 and RTE 2)
may reside in the FMS at the same time. The
FMS allows activation of one route as the active
flight plan. The other flight plan is stored as the
inactive route. The default route at power-up,
with both routes empty, is RTE 1.

The inactive route may be manually created

or selected from the stored company routes.
It may also be copied from the active route.
The procedures to create, select, and/or edit
the inactive route are identical to those of the
active route.

MESSAGES

ALERT MESSAGES
Alert messages are displayed in amber color in the
scratchpad and on the MESSAGE RECALL page.
These messages disappear automatically when
the condition that caused them no longer exists.
Alert messages have the highest priority and
supersede any advisory message or typed-in data
displayed in the scratchpad.
Maintenance alert messages are displayed on
the MAINT MESSAGE page as a result of a
hardware fault, and are usually associated to a
corresponding system alert message (e.g. FMS
FAILED ).
Alert messages cause both the MCDU MSG
annunciator and the remote MSG annunciator to
illuminate until all messages have been
cleared/acknowledged by the pilot. Alert messages
are cleared (thus acknowledged) from the
scratchpad by pressing the CLR key.
New messages not yet acknowledged, are
displayed with an asterisk (*) prefix on the
MESSAGE RECALL page. Bringing in view
the MESSAGE RECALL page(s) acknowledges
all messages a t once.
NOTE: Alert messages related to navigation sensor
performance are displayed only if the sensor is
interfaced with the FMS and configured through the
FMS maintenance pages (refer to the Installation
Manual).
Alert messages are prioritized internally by the
FMS, with the highest displayed at the top and
the lowest at the bottom of the MESSAGE RECALL
page.

page 28
ADVISORY MESSAGES
Advisory messages are lower priority messages
that do not turn on the MCDU MSG and/ or remote
MSG annunciator. They are classified as status
advisory messages or data entry advisory
messages .
Data entry advisory messages are identified in
the scratchpad by a leading exclamation mark (!).
They do not appear on the MESSAGE RECALL
page, but have scratchpad priority over status
advisory. Data entry advisory messages are
cleared from the scratchpad upon pressing the
MCDU key.
Status advisory messages have the lowest priority
and superseded any system alert message
or typed-in data displayed in the scratchpad.
Status advisory messages are cleared from
the scratchpad by pressing the CLR key.
NOTE: Advisory messages related to navigation sensor
performance are displayed only if the sensor is
interfaced with the FMS.
