1. INTRODUCTION
1.1 This Specification is for the supply of Conveyor Pulleys.
1.2 All equipment and services shall comply with the mandatory requirements of the
Mines Health and Safety Act 29 of 1996 and regulations (as amended).
1.3 The Vendor is to ensure that he complies with the requirements of Section 21 of
the Mines Health and Safety Act 29 of 1996 (as amended). The Vendor must
reply in writing confirming his compliance of this section.
1.4 For general procedures and definitions see Annexure A1 of this Specification.
1.5 The Vendor shall provide as part of his scope a complete RCM (reliability centred
maintenance) plan done on all equipment including intervals and a list of life
expectancy of each component and it must be compatible with the SAP system
used in Anglo Platinum.
2. SCOPE
2.1. General
2.1.1. The scope of work includes the furnishing of all labour, material and services for
the design, supply, manufacture, corrosion protection, assembly, testing and
inspection at works, delivery to site and rectification of defects developing during
the warranty period for the Conveyor Pulleys as specified.
2.2. Work to be included
The work includes, but shall not be limited to the general items listed below.
2.2.1. Supply of pulleys complete with Plummer blocks and bearings
2.2.2. The pulley Vendor will be responsible for the installation of the one half of the
low speed coupling onto the conveyor drive pulleys shaft in the presents of the
coupling Vendor (The other half will be installed onto the gearbox output shaft by
the gearbox Vendor).
2.2.3. Plain rubber lagging for the low tension pulleys and diamond lagging for the high
tension pulleys
2.2.4. First fill of lubrication / grease.
2.2.5. Delivery costs to site.
2.2.6. Risk assessments of equipment supplied by the Vendor.
2.2.7. Vendor acceptance of the pulley installation.

2.2.8. Vendor to supply a comprehensive itemised priced list of spare parts with
Vendor’s recommendation for which parts and quantities should be inventory for
each of the following:
2.2.8.1. Commissioning spares, but which are not normal operating spares.
2.2.8.2. Operating spares required for normal wear and tear during plant
operation for two years after commissioning.
2.2.8.3. Strategic spares recommended to maintain plant operability in the event
of catastrophic failure, or to replace equipment taken out of service for
major maintenance.
2.2.9. Any special tools required for commissioning and maintenance.
2.2.10. Prior to delivering the pulleys to site, precaution shall be taken by the Vendor to
protect the rubber lagging against damages during handling and transportation.
The Exposed machined surfaces of the pulley shafts shall be wrapped in “Denzo
Tape” to avoid corrosion.
2.2.11. Design calculations (to be submitted with tender).
2.2.12. Manufacturing programs (to be submitted with tender).
2.3. Work to be excluded
2.3.1. Off-loading at site
2.3.2. Site installation
2.3.3. Installation of the external holdback on the pulley shaft

3. DUTY DESCRIPTION
3.1. Process Design Data
The duty of the Conveyor Pulleys will be as specified on the attached Equipment Data
Sheets.
3.2. Duty
In general the Equipment will operate 24 hours per day, 365 days per year with an
operating availability exceeding 95%.
3.3. Duty Description
The Conveyor Pulleys will form part of the materials handling system in the process
plant.

4. DESIGN CRITERIA AND MATERIAL OF CONSTRUCTION
4.1. Material of Construction
4.1.1. The material of construction and components selected for the units should be cost
effective, in line with the process duty, of heavy duty design and suitable for
operation in a corrosive environment.
4.1.2. Shaft material shall be to BS 970-Part 1 (Carbon and carbon manganese steel)
Grade 080M40 (EN8) in the normalised conditions, with grain refinement and
with a min. tensile strength of 540 Mpa, yield stress of 262 Mpa min. and
elongation of 16%. For diameters above 150mm the impact toughness shall be
15J minimum at 0OC. All material tests shall be certified in accordance with BS
970.
4.1.3. Shell and end-disc material shall be to SANS 1431 Grade 350WA certified or
equivalent.
4.1.4. Either rolled plates or steel forgings may be used for the hubs, in accordance with
BS 970 grade 070M20.
4.1.5. All bearing housings shall be made of grey cast iron in accordance with ISO 185,
Grade 250 and of the split type with lubrication ports and equipped with grease
nipples.
4.1.6. The bearing housings shall have:
• Two / four mounting holes for all SNL or equivalent housings.
• Four mounting holes for SD or equivalent housings.
4.1.7. Anglo Platinum, in its discretion and by agreement with the Vendor, may elect to
upgrade certain materials of construction for reasons of standardisation.
4.2. Equipment Selection
4.2.1. The Vendor shall, as far as possible, use standardised equipment.
4.2.2. The contents of this specification shall in no way detract the vendor from his
responsibility of ensuring that the design and construction of the equipment is
suitable for the duties as specified. If an alternative design is preferred or
recommended by the Vendor, the alternative shall be submitted for Anglo
Platinum approval.
4.2.3. The Engineer reserves the right to undertake a design audit, if necessary.

4.3. General Design Criteria
4.3.1. The purchaser shall supply the following information to the pulley vendor.
• Type of pulley
• Belt tensions
• Drive details in the case of drive pulleys
• Belt details
• Angle of wrap
• Bearing size and centres
• G.A. drawings of pulleys
• Lagging requirements
• Crowning of conveyor pulleys
• See Conveyor Pulley Schedule for details in attachment 13.3
4.3.2. After the pulleys have been designed and shaft diameters have been established, a
stringent rationalisation shall be conducted between the designer and the Anglo
Platinum Engineer in order to keep spares holdings to a minimum.
4.3.3. Pulley diameters are to be selected from the belting manufacturer’s recommended
minimum for the particular class of belt selected and compared with standard
sizes as per Annexure A8 and the larger shall always be used.
4.3.4. Locking elements for pulleys with shafts smaller than 200 mm diameter shall be
Bikon type 1006 or equivalent, and for shafts 200 mm diameter or larger Dobikon
type 1015 or equivalent shall be used.
4.3.5. Only T-Bottom type end-discs shall be used for pulleys, with a shaft size of 200
mm and more. Turbine end-discs are to be used for shafts smaller than 200 mm.
4.3.6. All bearing seals shall be of the multiple stage labyrinth type. Taconite seals can
be used on special request if approved by Anglo Platinum. O-rings can be used
with the seals, if no groove in the shaft is required.
4.3.7. All bearings shall be of the self-aligning double spherical roller type.
4.3.8. SKF and FAG are the only permissible bearings sets. Bearing sets complete with
housings, seals, locating rings, labyrinth seals and end covers. No mixing of
components shall be permitted.
4.3.9. All bearings shall achieve a minimum L10 life of 100 000 hours. The Vendor
shall state in his quotation L10 life of bearing proposed.
4.3.10. All bearing end covers shall:

• Fit grease-tight and dirt-tight in the housing throat groove.
• Be suitable for shafts which project 10 mm beyond the end of the adapter
sleeve.
• Be made of steel or cast iron.
• Be made according to the supplier’s specifications.
• No spacers shall be used.
4.3.11. If Packers are to be used underneath the bearing housing, the packers must be
made the full width and length of the bearing housing. If Packers are required
only on one side of the housing, then a tapered packing must be used that is the
full length and width of the housing.
4.3.12. All lubrication shall comply strictly with Anglo Platinum Specification ALS 166
– “Lubricants General Requirements”.
4.3.13. The lubricants for use on the equipment must ensure efficient lubrication of all
bearings under the climatic and operation conditions specified.
4.3.14. Vendors are to complete lubrication schedules as per Attachment 13.2.
4.3.15. All components shall be designed for full load running conditions as a minimum.
Starting and other temporary conditions shall be calculated and allowed for in the
design, so that successful operation is achieved.
4.4. Conveyor Pulleys Design Criteria
4.4.1. The Conveyor Pulleys shall be designed and manufactured on a modular basis
and shall utilise readily available standard sub-components where possible to
facilitate the procurement of spares and replacement parts for maintenance
purposes and to facilitate inter-changeability.
4.4.2. Crowning of pulley shells shall not be permitted unless requested by the Anglo
Platinum Engineer.
4.4.3. Allowable Stress Levels:
Pulleys shall be designed for infinite fatigue life. Stresses shall be calculated and
the following limitations shall apply:
• For welded connections stress ranges shall not exceed the value of the
non-propagating stress range for the specific class of connection as
detailed in BS 7608 – “Fatigue of Welded Structures”. The mean
minus 2 standard deviation probability factor must be used. Disc to
shell weld, welded from both sides shall be taken as Class F and if

welded from the outside only, as a Class F2 connection. Full
penetration butt weld in the shell’s longitudinal seams and in the
connection between shell and T-bottom type end-discs shall be taken
as a Class E connection. Refer to Section 5.1.4 for requirements on
welded connections.
• For all other components subjected fatigue loading, Fatigue Reserve
Factors based on the Goodman Diagram shall not be less than 1.3.
F.R.F. – Allowable stress range at applicable mean stress
Actual stress range
• F.R.F’s shall be calculated for:
- The transition between the hub and the disc.
- The shaft in the vicinity of the locking element and in the fillet
if stepped shafts are used.
• Mean tangential stress in hub bores shall not exceed 80% of the
minimum yield stress of the steel used.
• Pulleys and shafts shall be designed to safely withstand the maximum
inclusive transient forces that can be imposed during acceleration or
braking. This shall be not less than 140% of rated belt tension.
4.4.4. Torque Transmission:
• Each locking element shall be selected to transmit the running and start-up
torque imposed by the belt on the pulley in the case of drive pulleys.
• The minimum factors of safety shall be four (4) under start-up and six (6) for
running conditions.
• In addition, calculations shall be made to ensure slip-free load transmission
under operating conditions, i.e. loss of contact pressure due to belt pull and
the bending moment exerted on the locking element by the end-disc.
• Shaft deflection angle under the locking element shall be calculated and shall
not exceed the value recommended by the locking element supplier.
4.4.5. Shaft Design Criteria:
4.4.5.1. Shaft Design:
• When designing the pulley shafts, on no account must the diaphragm
be utilised to transfer strain from the deflected shaft to the pulley shell.
The diaphragm should be flexible enough to deflect with the shaft and

the shaft alone is to withstand the load, the construction of the
diaphragm/shell connection is to be of the turbine type.
• The vendor shall make provision for extended shaft if Holdback is
specified in Conveyor Schedule.
• The vendor shall use standard shaft diameters as specified in Annexure
A10. The vendor shall still be responsible of ensuring that the design is
suitable for the duties as specified.
• Shaft diameter shall be calculated to support the maximum load
resulting from:
- Bending – conveyor tensions and drive supports.
- Torsion – resulting from the drives or holdbacks mounted on a
pulley.
• The design loads on the shafts shall be assumed to be the maximum
running, start-up, stopping or dynamic loads resulting from the
conveyor application.
• The design shall be based on the shaft absorbing all the induced forces
on a pulley.
4.4.5.2. Deflection criteria shall be selected to protect the:
• Bearing seals.
• Locking elements on the pulley.
• Prevent undue transmittal of force couples over to the supporting
structure. Deflection shall be based on the following worst selected
criteria:
• Deflection not to be in access of L/2500 with the maximum
load where L = bearing centres.
• The deflection angle shall be not more than 3 minutes at the
pulley locking element or not more than 5 minutes at the shaft
end (Bearing and locking element manufacturer’s deflection
criteria must be adhered to if less than above mentioned
deflection criteria).
4.4.5.3. Torsion:
• Selection of shaft sizes on shear resulting from torsion shall be
calculated on the start-up load of the drive (or maximum run back

tension with half the friction forces taken into consideration for the
holdback).
• A minimum stress concentration factor Kt = 1.2 shall be used.
• In case of keyed shafts, the minimum diameter shall be selected based
on the root diameter (i.e. excluding key depth).
4.4.5.4. Bending:
• Bending shall be calculated on the maximum combined bending
taking into consideration:
• Start-up and dynamic loads.
• Resultant load of the belt forces and pulley mass.
• Support forces of the drive.
• A minimum bending stress concentration factor of Kb = 1.5 shall be
used in determining the shaft sizes.
4.4.5.5. Combined bending and torsion:
• Shaft calculations for each section of the shaft shall be made for the
combined torsion and bending loads in section 4.4.5.3 and 4.4.5.4
taking the stress factors stated into consideration.
• The deflection angle shall be not more than 3 minutes at the pulley
locking element or not more than 5 minutes at the shaft end (Bearing
and locking element manufacturer’s deflection criteria must be
adhered to if less than above mentioned deflection criteria).
4.4.5.6. Stress Levels:
• In spite of the fatigue levels detected above the maximum allowable
stress shall be:
• Bending - 90 Mpa
• Shear - 45 Mpa
4.4.5.7. Shaft Step-Down:
• The shaft design shall allow for a maximum of 10% reduction in
diameter for each step.
4.4.6. Dimensions:
• Radii for step-down shafts shall be at least equal to the difference between the
diameters.

• The thickness of end-discs where it is welded to the shell shall not exceed 1.2
times the shell thickness and shall be designed to prevent end disc forces
being transmitted to the shell.
• The vendor must indicate at what shell thickness the pulley should be
replaced.
• The pulley face width and bearing centres, basic pulley diameter, bearing
journal and locking element, shaft diameters and minimum shell thickness
(after machining) shall be as per Annexure No A7, A8, A9, A10.
• The tolerances on the pulley diameter shall be ±2mm. This tolerance shall be
applied to both bare and lagged pulley.
4.4.7. Lagging:
All rubber lagging shall be in accordance with SANS 1669 -2 and shall be read in
conjunction with Anglo Platinum specification AGS 017 – “Rubber Lining”
Anglo Platinum is in the process of standardizing on the studded ceramic lagging
bonded directly to the pulley shell. However the Engineer must specify in the
enquiry document which lagging is required for the particular installation
4.4.7.1. Type of Lagging
The Lagging shall be one of the following as specified by the purchaser
• Rubber, plain - non drive pulleys
• Rubber, diamond pattern - drive pulleys
• Ceramic tiles - plain for non drive pulleys
• Ceramic tiles - studded for drive pulleys
4.4.7.2. Lagging Material
• Hot vulcanised rubber lagging complying with BS 480 and having a Shore A
hardness of 650 - 700 for non flame-retardant applications.
• Neoprene having a Shore A hardness of 65 0 - 700 for flame-retardant
application.
• Studded and plain ceramic lining, when tested in accordance with ENV 14226
the ceramic materials shall have a minimum alumina content of 90 % with a
density of 3.5 -3.6 g/cm3 and when tested in accordance with ISO 14705 the
Vickers hardness number shall be (1070 +/- 10%). These properties shall be
certified by the supplied

4.4.7.3. Thickness
• The thickness of the rubber lagging shall be as specified by the Engineer but
shall be not less than 10mm.
• The studded ceramic tile shall be 6mm thick including the stud.
• The plain ceramic tile shall be 6 mm thick
4.4.7.4. Rubber Lagging Construction.
All rubber lagging on drive pulleys shall be a grooved diamond pattern.
The major and minor axes of the diamond shall be either:
• Diamond major axis 100 to 150 mm
• Diamond minor axis 50 to 70mm
• The grooves shall be 6mm deep by 6mm wide.
4.4.7.5. Ceramic Lagging Construction
Ceramic tiles shall be bonded onto the steel shell with an epoxy resin. The pattern
shall be 2 rows of tile across the width of the shell with a 10mm gap between the
next lots of tiles. The 10mm gap is then filled with the bonding epoxy to just
below the height of the studs
4.4.7.6. Bond Strength
• The surface of the pulley shall be blast cleaned to Sa1/2 in accordance with
ISO 8501-1.
• Adhesives and epoxies shall be applied in accordance with the manufacturer’s
recommendations.
• When tested in accordance with ISO 813 the bond strength between the
lagging material and the substrate shall not be less than 12N/mm. this applies
to:
- Rubber to pulley
- Ceramic to epoxy
- Epoxy to pulley face
4.4.7.7. Only hot vulcanised rubber lagging complying with BS 480 shall be
used.
4.4.7.8. The lagging thickness on pulleys shall be as per Annexure A11. Any
deviation from the table shall be agreed with the Anglo Platinum
Engineer.
4.4.7.9. Flame resistant material shall be used for underground conveyor pulleys.

5. MANUFACTURING AND CONSTRUCTION DETAILS
5.1. General
5.1.1. The Conveyor Pulleys will be manufactured and constructed in accordance with
the SANS standards or an approved international standard.
5.1.2. All the head pulleys installed with the over band magnets above shall be stainless
steel as recommended by the Magnet Supplier. See Conveyor Pulley Schedule for
details.
5.1.3. The Vendor shall submit welding and heat treatment procedures to Anglo
Platinum before any fabrication work is carried out.
5.1.4. Welding:
All welding must conform to the requirements of the latest edition of A.W.S. D
1.1.
• The welding work shall comply with the requirements of AWS D1.1
Section 3.
• Welders and welding operators shall be qualified to AWS D1.1 Section
5.
• Inspection of welding work shall comply with AWS D1.1 Section 6.
• Welding procedure specifications for every different type of weld shall
be drawn up. These shall be qualified to AWS D1.1 - Structural
Welding Code Steel: Section 5, unless pre-qualified.
• No welding is allowed on the shaft.
• All connections shall be full penetration butt or fillet welds.
• Pulleys with weld connections between end-discs and shell shall be
welded from the outside as well as the inside where the shaft diameter
exceeds 120 mm.
• All welds shall be stress relieved when T-bottom type end-discs are
used (supply certificates).
• Non-destructive testing of welds shall be performed as follows:
• Shell longitudinal and circumferential butt welds shall be radio
graphed for 200 mm from the ends and 20% in the case of
circumferential welds in accordance with ASME V Articles 2 and
22. Acceptance standard shall be ASME VIII 4 pp. 4.

• Shell to disc welds shall be ultrasonically tested over 20% of the
length, in accordance with ASME V Articles 4 and 5.
• 100% visual inspection and 100% MPI crack detection.
• Acceptance Standard shall be to ASM VIII App 12.
• Personnel performing above tests and the interpretation of the
results shall be qualified to SNT-TC-1A: Level II or equivalent.
5.1.5. Balancing:
• Assembled pulleys (with lagging on) shall be dynamically balanced to
ISO standards 0.2g (supply certificate).
• Balancing weights if required shall be attached by welding to the
overlap portion of the shell and not to the end-disc.
• The Anglo Platinum engineer shall be notified prior to commencement
of balancing so that he can make arrangements to witness the balancing
procedure, if he deems it necessary.
5.1.6. Dimension and tolerances:
• Tolerances and surface finishes on the shaft and hub bore shall be as
specified by the locking element manufacturer.
• Tolerances and surface finishes on drive shaft ends and couplings shall
be as specified by the coupling manufacturer.
• Tolerances on shaft bearing journals shall be as specified by the bearing
manufacturer.
• Surface finish on transition radii of end-discs shall be N7 (1.6 micron
Ra) or better.
• Surface finish on radii of stepped shafts shall be N 6 (0.8 microns Ra)
or better.
• The shell thickness shall be checked after machining to confirm that the
actual thickness has a thickness tolerance of:
+ 8% of the nominal thickness
- 0% of the nominal thickness
• The concentricity about the shaft centre line shall be such that the total
indicator run out, before lagging, shall not exceed 0.5 mm.

5.1.7. Assembly:
5.1.7.1. Drive Couplings
• The pulley manufacturer shall ensure that the drive couplings where
applicable are properly machined to the correct tolerance and fitted to
the drive pulley in the presents of the coupling supplier.
5.1.7.2. Mounting of bearing assemblies (when required):
• All pulleys shall be supplied with one bearing assembly located and one
bearing assembly floating.
• With drive pulleys being driven from one end only, the located bearing
assembly shall be on the driven end of the pulley shaft.
• Each housing shall be clearly marked with the symbols L (for located)
and F (for floating) hard stamped on the end covers.
• All bearing assemblies shall be packed with grease during assembling
(Amount of grease to be specified by bearing manufacturer). Bearing
assemblies must be fitted in accordance with bearing manufacturer’s
instructions.
5.1.7.3. Locking element:
• Lock elements shall be installed in accordance with manufacturer’s
instructions.
• After assembly an approved sealing compound shall be applied to the
outer end to prevent corrosion.
6. QA REQUIREMENT
6.1. General
6.1.1. QA requirements shall be in accordance with Annexure A2.
6.1.2. All equipment shall be assembled at the Vendor’s premises prior to shipment, to
ensure that all sections fit correctly, to the satisfaction of the Anglo Platinum
Engineer or his representative.
6.1.3. Data books to be issued before final invoice. Supply of documents and
information shall be in the format of Attachment 13.1.
6.1.4. The Inspection and Testing Authority, if needed, shall be approved by Anglo
Platinum.

7. DRAWINGS AND DATA
7.1. Drawings
7.1.1. Drawings shall be to Anglo Platinum standard, see Annexure A3 for more detail.
7.1.2. Certified general arrangement drawings shall show elevations and plans as
required to indicate the general outlines, dynamic/static loads and important
dimensions and clearances of the equipment, masses of the assemblies, footprint
details and holding down positions. (To be issued within 2 weeks of order
placement, in electronic and hard copy format).
7.1.3. Approved drawings shall be complete with equipment and order numbers,
stamped ‘CERTIFIED FOR CONSTRUCTION’ and signed by an Anglo
Platinum Engineer. All information necessary for installation and maintenance is
to be shown.
7.2. Data
7.2.1. Three (3) sets of operating and maintenance manuals supplied in hard cover ring
binder files on release of equipment. This should contain all necessary
information for proper installation, operation, maintenance and repair of the
equipment. (One set in electronic format on CD). One draft copy to be issued
within three weeks of order placement for approval.

10.2. Guarantee
10.2.1. A minimum guarantee period of 12 months is required, from the time of mutually
agreed successful hot commissioning.
10.2.2. Commissioning shall be carried out in accordance with a hot and cold
commissioning procedure, which will be laid down by the Vendor in consultation
with the Anglo Platinum Engineer.
10.2.3. A representative will be required to assist during cold commissioning after
erection and a hot mechanical acceptance will also be required.
11. REFERENCE STANDARDS AND SPECIFICATIONS
11.1. Standards
11.1.1. All design, engineering and equipment supplied are to meet or exceed the
applicable South African standards, ASME or British Standard Specifications.
Where no standards are applicable, generally accepted procedures for design,
fabrication and supply are to be observed.
11.1.2. The Vendor agrees to comply with all applicable laws, rules, regulations,
standards and ordinances in the completion of the work.
11.2. Specifications
11.2.1. The following Specifications, standards and regulations, as amended, form part of
this Specification and will be the basis of any contractual agreement between
Anglo Platinum and the Vendor. In the event of conflict between this
Specification and the general Specification, this Specification shall govern unless
otherwise determined by The Engineer.

11.2.2. If any of the applicable Anglo Platinum Specifications, as amended, are not in the
Vendor’s possession, please obtain them from EPCM Contractor.
11.2.3. Unless specifically otherwise stated in tender documents to the contrary, it shall
be taken that Vendors fully understand and accept all requirements and
implications of this Specification and that it is agreed that this Specification will
form part of any contractual agreement between Anglo Platinum and the Vendor.

1. Codes of Precedence
1.1. All equipment and services shall comply with the mandatory requirements of:
1.1.1. Mine Health and Safety Act 29 of 1996 and regulations (as amended).
1.1.2. Minerals Act 50 of 1991 and Regulations (as amended).
1.1.3. Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993 (as amended).
1.1.4. Road Traffic Act, Act No. 29 of 1989 (as amended).
1.2. Any proposed deviation from this Specification and its requirements, which are modified
for application to specific items proposed by the Vendor/Contractor, shall be submitted to Anglo
Platinum for written approval.
1.3. If any doubt arises as to the meaning or effect of any part of this Specification or if
conflict occurs between this Specification and other information it shall be referred to the
Engineer for a ruling. The decision of the Engineer at Anglo Platinum shall be final.
1.4. In the event of any conflict between the various relevant documents, the order of
precedence shall be:
1.4.1. Technical:
1.4.1.1. This Specification.
1.4.1.2. The data sheets and/or drawings.
1.4.1.3. Other relevant documents.
1.4.2. Commercial:
1.4.2.1. The purchase order, including terms, conditions and legal requirements.
2. Definitions
2.1. The Supplier shall be known as the “Vendor or Contractor”.
2.2. The Purchaser shall be known as “Anglo Platinum”.
2.3. The “Anglo Platinum Representative” shall be the Project Manager or his appointed
representative.
2.4. “The Specification” shall mean this Specification and all the relevant Standards and
Codes forming part of this Specification.
2.5. “The Engineer” shall be the Project Manager or his appointed representative.
2.6. “Anglo Platinum” is Anglo American Platinum Corporation Limited.
2.7. “The Site Engineer” shall be the appointed Engineer on site.

TITLE: QA REQUIREMENTS
1. Quality Assurance
1.1. QA requirements shall be in accordance with the requirements of the Anglo Platinum
Specification AGS 029. The quality classification and QA documentation shall be as specified
on page 2 of this section.
1.2. Imported parts shall be fabricated to an approved international quality Specification.
2. Inspection and Testing
2.1. The Anglo Platinum Representative shall have access, at all reasonable times, to those
parts of the manufacturing facilities engaged in the manufacture of items in terms of this
Specification. He is authorised to witness any stage of manufacture, testing and to inspect
documentation.
2.2. The Anglo Platinum Representative is authorised to reject any items not manufactured to
the requirements of the Specification.
2.3. All equipment shall be inspected at the Vendor’s works prior to delivery, to ensure
compliance with the Specification.
2.4. No unit shall be considered complete until accepted by Anglo Platinum.
2.5. It shall be the responsibility of the manufacturer to establish examination procedures in
accordance with the requirements of the quality assurance procedure. All examinations to be
performed by qualified personnel.
2.6. The minimum testing shall be as specified in the Vendor QA and document requirement
list forming part of this section.

1.2. In the absence of any specific legislation, ordinance or by-law, the Vendor shall
implement the terms and conditions of the Anglo Platinum Specification ADC 027 -
“Environmental Guidelines for Contractors” which guidelines shall be deemed to be
specifically incorporated herein.
1.3. The Vendor shall report all environmental conditions and environmental information to
the responsible person as is required by law to be supplied, and furthermore undertakes
to keep all environmental conditions and environmental information obtained either by
the Vendor or by any person employed by the Vendor in connection with the project
confidential and shall not use or disclose any environmental conditions or environmental
information without written consent”.
