Summary:

This study aims at studying the manufacturing process of different car


companies like TOYOTA, HYUNDAI, CHANGAN. Each company is
unique in its manufacturing process with its team of designers, engineers,
and manufactures. The main aim of all companies is to provide best
designed products to meet the needs of customers, they follow different
steps to provide excellent colors, shapes and designs. Each step of
production process include great hard work and dedication of brilliant
minds. Hyundai is the best-selling brand of 2021 because of its process of
designing. It competes with the best-selling brands of cars in the world.

OBJECTIVES OF RESEARCH:

To understand and learn operations in designing of goods and services.


To study quality management, finance, design techniques and delivery of
projects. Following are some important objectives for carrying out
project:

 To understand strategy, techniques and procedures involved in


designing of goods and service.
 To learn total quality management tools and techniques for better
optimization of process.
 This process will assist in developing career opportunities within
candidate.
 Examine and study tasks involved in designing process.
 Develop leadership, intellectual and process skills through project
study and research.

COMPANY’s PROFILE

HYUNDAI is the south Korean multinational automotive manufactured,


that was founded in 1967. The founder of Hyundai is Chung Ju-yung and
current chairman is Chung Eui-sun. Headquarter of this company is in
Seoul, Korea and Hyundai owns 33.88% shares of Kia Motors. The
working of Hyundai are luxury cars, commercial vehicles, and engines.
The net income of this company is ₩3.18 trillion, assets are ₩194.51
trillion, and equity is ₩76.36 trillion. The total employees of this
company are 104,731 worldwide.

After a long time, this company entered again in Pakistani automobile


company with join venture Nishat Mills owned by Mian Mansha. The
head-office of Hyundai in Lahore Pakistan, HNMPL regional office in
Karachi, North office in Islamabad and the production plant based in
Faisalabad and started production in 2019.

COMPANY PROFILE

Toyota is Japanese based automotive manufacturer company, the head


quarter situated in Aichi, Japan. Toyota is founded by Kiichiro Toyoda in
year 1937, there are 364,445 total employees in this company and it is
tenth largest company through worldwide and followed by Volkswagen.
This company produces more than 10 million vehicles in a year.
Basically, this company divided into divisions: Toyota, Lexus, Hino,
Daihatsu, and Ranz.

In Pakistan, there is joint venture between Toyota Globe and House of


Habib Pakistan with the full name of Toyota Indus Motors. It has recently
launched YARIS, in the passenger segment and also has different
varieties of the flagship Corolla.

COMPANY’S PROFILE

Changan is Chinese multinational automobile company. The owner of


this company is Li Hongzhang founded in 1862 and headquarter of this
company is in Chongqing, China. Changan is the most selling domestic
brand and one of the top-rated automobile brand in china. Experience of
passenger’s vehicles. Changan owns by China South Industries Group
now.

In Pakistan, this company is joint venture with Master Group (Master


Molty-Foam), recently entered in the market and started with 800cc car
and got good results. They observed market: competitors, customers want
and need and environment too and according to these, they launches their
first suv car with the name Alsvin. This car stole the almost all demand of
whole country. They decided to enter with 17000 units of Alsvin and in
three weeks, they got advance booking. People wants to change and this
company knew people very well.

COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS
There are five steps the companies take in designing a product. Each step
will compare all the processes of three companies:

 Initial drawing and sketching:

If we talk about the TOYOTA, first of all they collect data from their
development goal and target
customer profile. Then the
research designers see what
themes will meet customer
needs and wants. After that the
designers make a free hand
sketch. This sketch gives a broad view of the design goal of the product
for its future deveolpment

While in HYUNDAI, originators consider the center way of thinking and


qualities that they communicate. Instance, they desire to pass on vehicle
which is active, that flooded involuntary highlights. Underlying plan
portrays is typically close to works in progress. Afterward, more itemized
outlines are made on computerized tablets. These computer drawings
uncover the vehicle's general measurements and layout.

If we talk about the CHANGAN, first of all Designers understand far in


advanced that what improvements will be added in coming time and how
it meets the needs of customers. Designers get inspirations from sources
that working worldwide and see the competitor’s product to understand
the competitor’s product and take over competitive advantage. After
identifying trends, the designers of CHANGAN Company’s begin
competition series of hand drawn sketches, it may help the company to

fulfill future requirement and technical design of future vehicles. The
company needs the meet all the demand of the customers and to innovate
technology for the future and to make it functional.

 Digital design model:

In the second step, the digital modelers of TOYOTA are then assigned a
task of turning the two-dimensional sketches into three-dimensional
shapes as a digital design model. To transform the imagination of
sketchers into buildable reality is a very difficult process.

If we talk about HYUNDAI, then design is a key of HYUNDAI success.


Digital design model is
produce from basic design. For
digital design formation, they
mix basic design with design
data. After discussion between
designers and engineers, a 3d model is made on computer.

While in CHANGAN, at this stage, the digital technology (computer


programs) come forward to play an exclusive role in design process. They
used of 2-dimensional sketches such as CAS and then create a virtual 3-
dimensional vehicle, then see how much improvements are need.

 Clay models:

In TOYOTA, the designers put their extensive input in order to fully


understand and convert the digital design into a physical mass. The clay
designers make the object that
is as close as the real one. The
designers of TOYOTA make
frequent repetitions until they
reach the final external form.

If we talk about HYUNDAI, Clay model is the best thing to seeing a
prototype and secondly it cost less. It is done with the ratio of 1:1. Clay
model is created have idea of good interior and outside view of future.

While in CHANGAN, designers passed the digital design and then give
opportunity to develop three-dimensional. These are clay molded models.
CHANGAN Company said that clay models or photo-type are very
important part of future process that includes surface, line, and details
perfectly. It is thrilling moment when designers see sketches in actual
model in front of them. To get desired level of perfection it takes one
month it moves to other step of decision making procedure.

 Colors and Materials:

Color coordination is an important element in the design process. For


the best color palette TOYOTA company goes through great research
fashion and interior design trends for its new car.

The HYUNDAI company said that, Color is one of the most important
factor in automobile designing. Certain a colors can create emotional and
intellectual impression. For making car interior design, seat material and
colors are put together through Computer visualization.

If we talk about the CHANGAN,


the skillful experts all parts to the
depth of millimeter. Deep
coordination is highly needed
among designer’s engineers and
technicians. it takes at least 3 years
to pass and introduce to the public.

 Final concept

In TOYOTA, they make the final concept in the decision hall which is a
large penthouse room with a turntable and the model is examined under
that conditions where lights of room are close to natural lights or rainy
days or at night. The large display
screens in the room are also used to
study the designs of different cars at
the same time.

If we talk about HYUNDAI, it is a


car made to showcase new styling
and new technology. Concept car
never go into production directly. Although production of vehicle is slow
process but development process of car is faster at auto show.

while in Changan when design goes underproduction it is presented in


front of experts and international media. The production unit starts
production according to design and then joins the parts together to make a
car.

CONCLUSION
In the conclusion phase, we got the results in the favor of HYUNDAI
Company because of, the process of designing as we seen in video is very
appreciating it has very simple, technical and least time consuming
process. The Korean Brand is working effectively and efficiently and
designs car model impressively. The Hyundai Company has best
designers who designs according to customer’s need and wants and it has
also latest and best digital technology. The designers also consider
circumstances of environment in making car design and creates next level
car for public. Hyundai compete with the world best companies like
BMW, AUDI, MERCEDES with its excellence. Their car has very less
complaints and their market share is going up day by day and Hyundai
car model ACCENT declared the best car in the world in year 2021
according to a survey.
