Cummins Engine Diagram Sensors PDF

This document contains a parts list with required quantities for replacing various sensors and components on an engine. It then provides additional details on replacing sensor parts #7 and #9. Sensor #7 is a position sensor that is difficult to access, requiring removing the air compressor to access it. It is mounted with one bolt and held in place with an o-ring. Sensor #9 is a speed sensor that is more easily accessible, also mounted with one bolt and held in place with an o-ring. The speed sensor can be replaced by removing the bolt and popping it out with a flathead screwdriver.

#7 is the Position Sensor ( Old part # 4002064, New part # 4921597). This sensor is difficult to get to.
You have to remove the air compressor from the engine block in order to get to it. The sensor is bolted
onto the block with one bolt. After removing the bolt the sensor is easy to pop out using a flat head
screwdriver. The sensor has fine threads on it but much to my surprise, it is not threaded into my engine
block, it is simply held in with an O ring . This is a universal part for Cummins so I guess some engine
models actually have this sensor screwed in !

#9 is the Speed Sensor ( Old part # 4002066, New part # 4921601) This sensor is relatively easy to
replace as it is accessible, held in place with one bolt , and the sensor is held in place in the engine block
with an O ring ( After removing bolt simply use flat screwdriver to pop out the sensor- make sure to put
a dab of oil on the O ring of the new sensor before installing )
