KUALA LUMPUR ZOO


Kuala Lumpur Zoo, spanning over 110 acres around a central lake, houses 5137
specimens from 476 species of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and fish from Asia and
Africa. Also known as the National Zoo of Malaysia, the wildlife sanctuary is located 13km
northeast of Kuala Lumpur. The zoo celebrated its 50th anniversary in November 2013. The
exhibits are spaciously arranged around a scenic lake and landscaped with mature trees
including a sprawling giant banyan, reckoned to be one of the largest banyan trees in the
Klang Valley.

Some of Kuala Lumpur Zoo’s most popular sections include the Reptile Park which
features an exceptional collection of snakes, including the Sumatran pit viper and the Indian
rock python, as well as Lake of Birds, which displays 300 free-roaming birds, while visitors
can see leopard cats, capybara, Malay civet, pumas, leopards and Binturong in the Mammal
Kingdom, where . Housing wild animals from most parts of the world, the open-concept
Ape Centre houses Sumatran orang-utans, while the Australian Plain is home to a group of
wallabies, emus (Australia’s largest bird), kangaroos, and pademelons: the smallest of the
marsupials.

The latest wildlife additions to Kuala Lumpur Zoo are two rare giant pandas hailing
from Sichuan, China. With an additional fee (RM30 for adults and RM15 for children),
visitors are able to catch a glimpse of these highly endangered creatures behind a massive
glass panel. Discount rates are available for school tour.

The National Zoo is aspired to be one of the world’s premier zoological park and
aquaria dedicated to conservation, recreation, education, training and research of various
animal and plant species. Currently, it is one of the most popular tourist attractions which
records more than one million admissions annually.

Newspaper is a powerful tool and is one of the best means of communication


between the world and people. It is one of the most important mediums of knowledge. It is a
good source of getting more knowledge and information as well as enhancing skill level. It
is available in all the regions at very low cost. Newspapers are also accessible even in rural
areas where internet signals could still be weak.
Newspaper has affected the people in society positively. People could know the
current affairs of the country. Newspaper is a good link of communication between
authoirities and people, as it provides important news in the nation. It makes people well
aware about their rules, regulations and rights in the country. Newspapers are of great
importance for the students especially as it gives them lots of general knowledge and
current affairs of national and international levels. It gives us information about all the
happenings, developments, new technology, research, astrology, seasonal changes, natural
calamities, etc.
Newspaper also contains fine articles on social issues, humanity, cultures, traditions,
arts of living, meditation, yoga, as well as other fields. It contains information about
common public views in solving various social and economy issues. Using this, people can
know about current politics in the world. It helps job seekers in searching for new jobs,
students to get admitted to best school, businessmen to know about current and important
business activities, current trends of the market, so as to formulate new strategies for their
companies.
Newspapers contribute to language learning too if we make a habit of reading it on a
daily basis. It develops reading habits, improve our vocabularies and let us know more
about grammar structures. Some people are highly used to of reading this newspaper in the
morning. They become very restless and feel that something has missed in the absence of
newspaper. Students, especially, should regularly read newspapers to keep their mind up-to-
date. Newspaper contains bulk of information under attractive headings according to
everyone’s choice so no one can be bored. We should continue reading a variety of
newspapers and motivate other family members and friends also to read newspaper.

An Accident

Every morning, I use my school bus to go to school. I will usually wait at the bus
stand which is an 8-minute walk away from my home, close to a crossroad. One morning, as
always, I was waiting for my school bus when an accident occurred. 35. ___________
The traffic police man on duty blew his whistle loudly but the bus driver did not
stop. 36. ______________ At the opposite direction, one boy riding a motorbike seemed to
be in great hurry. He moved ahead all of the other vehicles with an unexpected start. He did
