PHYSICAL FITNESS

HEALTH RELATED FITNESS COMPONENTS- focus on factors that promote optimum health and prevent the onset of disease and problems
associated with an activity
- CARDIOVASCULAR FITNESS - Ability of the heart (cardio) and circulatory system (vascular) to supply oxygen to muscles for an extended
period of time.
- MUSCULAR STRENGTH - Refers to the maximum amount of force a muscle can exert against an opposing force
- MUSCULAR ENDURANCE- Ability of the muscles to work over an extended period of time without fatigue
- FLEXIBILITY- Ability to move a body part through a full range of motion at a joint
- BODY COMPOSITION- Ratio of body fat to lean body mass ( includes h20, bones, muscles and connective tissues)

2. MUSCULAR STRENGTH
90 -degree-pushups: Purpose: To measure the strength of the upper extremities
Basic plank: Purpose: A plank exercise is the best exercise to strengthen your core and abdomen. These exercises strengthen your hips,
lower back and abdomen and improve your body balance. It is used in yoga, by professional boxers and sports like hockey and football.
3.FLEXIBILITY- A test of flexibility for the lower extremities particularly the hamstring
Sit and Reach: Purpose: to reach forward as far as possible without bending the knees.

4. CARDIOVASCULAR ENDURANCE
Three-minute step test Purpose: To measure cardiovascular endurance.

competitions. Skill-related fitness refers to abilities that help people learn skills.
1.Agility- ability to change the direction of the body rapidly and accurately in space during activity and movement
Ex: Hexagon agility test
2. Balance-ability to maintain equilibrium while performing a variety of stationery and movement-based activities. Ex: Stork balance stand test
3. Coordination- ability to perform a variety of motor tasks smoothly rhythmically and accurately: Ex: Paper juggling
4. Power – ability to perform a variety of activities and movements in a quick and forceful manner. Ex: Standing long jump
5. Reaction time -ability to respond quickly to opponents and equipment during games and activities; Ex: Stick drop test
6. Speed- ability to perform a variety of tasks and activities in little time with quick and rapid motion: Ex: 40 meter sprint
