An adjective is a describing word. It gives more information
about something. Used to describe or modify a noun or pronoun. Noun- name of a specific object or set of objects, such as living creatures, places, action, qualities, states of existence, or ideas. Pronoun- is a word that stands in for a noun Ex: as subject – singular- I, you, he, she, they, it Plural- me, you, they As object- singular- me, you, him, her, them, it Plural- us, you, them Example: The man feels so cold. Ian is happy to celebrate his birthday. The balloon is color blue. Examples of adjectives: Fast, delicious, beautiful Angry, tall, sweet New, big, easy Black, expensive, strong Small, warm, soft 1. Descriptive adjectives (place before a noun) -it is used to describe the quality and physical state (shape, size, color etc.) of something. - Provides information and attribute to the nouns/pronouns. -also called as “qualitative adjectives”. Example: I have a pink bag Carl is tall Dylan bought a red car. 2. Adjective of quantity An adjective of quantity is word used to describe the approximate or specific amount or quantity of something. It includes the word “many”, “few”, “some”, “several”, and “much”. These adjectives provide information about how much of a particular thing is being referred to in a sentence. Example: Many men in the Philippines are now open-minded towards wearing clothes that were previously designated as a feminine. 3. Demonstrative adjectives -it is used to specially describe the position of something or someone in space or time. -the most used demonstrative adjectives are this, that, these, and those. Examples of demonstrative adjectives Singular- this, that Plural- these, those Singular- it, here Plural- there, over there Close to the speaker Far away from the speaker 1. This is a red pen. 3. That stage is super is nice. 2. These are black pens. 4. Those cars are expensive. 4.Possessive adjectives - a possessive adjective is an adjective that modifies a noun by identifying who has ownership or possession of it. Example: Andrew lost his keys Possessive adjectives are also used to refer to people who have a relation to someone or something. Example: Vince and Helena are with their parents. 5.Interrogative adjectives - a type of adjective that is used to ask questions or gather information about noun. -it typically modifies a noun and helps to form an interrogative sentence or question. - also, it is used to inquire about quality, characteristics, or identity of a noun.
the possessive adjectives are my, your, his, her, its, our, their, and whose. A possessive adjective sits before a noun (or a pronoun) to show who or what owns sit.
Example: where is jane? I have her hat.
The boy has left their toys in the garden.
These adjectives are often followed by a noun and are used to
seek specific information. For example: Which bag do you like more? Whose gift is this? What book did you borrow? Interrogative pronoun -It generally follows verb and can stand alone. While interrogative adjectives, generally follow noun and cannot stand alone as they modify noun or pronoun. Examples of interrogative pronoun: name of person Which is your book? What is the color of your hair? Example of interrogative adjectives: describing words Which book is yours? What color is your hair? 1. Positive adjectives Positive adjectives describe people, place, and things in a positive way using these noun modifiers, you can express emotions such as satisfaction, love, amusement, hope and more. Here are few examples of sentences that use good emotional words. 1. Maria is happy. 2. Alma is always cooperative with her classmates. 3.Comparative adjectives - a comparative adjectives are an adjective used to compare two people or things. -we use comparative adjectives to say that one person or thing demonstrates a high degree of a quality or is a better example of a quality than the other. Example: she is two years older than me. New York is much bigger than boston. This hotel is more expensive than the last hotel we stayed at. Reading is more interesting than watching television. 3.Superlative adjectives - a superlative adjective is an adjective used in comparisons to describe something as being of the highest degree or extreme. We use superlative adjectives when making comparisons of three or more people or things. Example: my house is the largest one in our neighborhood. Your dog (Carlota) run the fastest of any in the race. This is the most beautiful movie I have ever seen.
