A. COURSE OVERVIEW:
1. Course Objective: The course provides the student with basic knowledges in linear
algebra with applications in cryptography, computer graphics, image compression, in
particular the skill of solving linear systems of equations using Gauss elimination
method.
2. Prerequisite: None
3. Major Contents: Systems of linear equations, Matrices in echelon form, Gauss
elimination method, Algebra of matrices, Determinants and their properties,
Eigenvalues and Eigenvectors, Vector Spaces, Linear independence, Basis, Rank of a
matrix, Linear transformation, Inner product spaces.
4. Assessment:
Quiz, Assignment, Class Attendance: 30%
Midterm Test: 30%
Final Exam: 40%
