PATHFIT 1- module 1

ASSESSMENT/ACTIVITY
1. Do you make a constant effort to
achieve and maintain good health?
Elaborate.
I always try to make a constant effort in
achieving and maintaining a good health by
being more active in my daily life, having a
heathy diet, better sleep routine, meditation
and more active socially, physically and
emotionally.

2. Identify 2 dimensions of wellness in which

you think you are doing well. Discuss your
answer.
I am doing better with my spiritual Wellness.
I meditate, go to the church every Sunday
and refresh my mind by journaling my
thoughts. Spiritual wellness helps meto
have a positive attitude toward life learning
to love yourself and others, having values
and finding sense of peace. It is about being
able to trust someone and not being at
defense at all times.
I am also good with my intellectual wellness
because I expose myself to new ideas,
people, and beliefs that are different from
my own. I often listen
to every side of an issue and try to
scrutinize it.

3. Identify 2 dimensions of wellness in which

you think you are not faring well. Why?
Emotional Wellness
I'm not doing well with my emotional
wellness because I rarely talk to someone
about my emotional concerns and share my
feelings with others. I am also having a hard
time to say no without feeling any guilt and I
tend to be more emotional and overthink a
lot .

Interpersonal Wellness
I do have an unhealthy interpersonal
wellness because i don't communicate a lot.
I always go through my "ghosting phases"
without informing someone. I also have a
very small circle of friends but we don't
communicate every day.

4. Name the toughest barrier you think is

hindering you in achieving your wellness
goals at the moment. How will you
overcome it?
One of the toughest barries that hinders me
in achieving wellnes is my time. I don't
manage my
time well. I spent of my time in academics.
Because of that, sometimes I skip my
meals, sleep late and no longer have time
to exercise.

5. How can regular participation in physical

activity help an overweight individual even if
it does not result to weight loss? Explain.

Physical activity increases people's total

energy expenditure, which can help them
stay in energy balance. It helps them control
their weight by using excess calories that
would otherwise be stored as fat. Physical
activity decreases fat around the waist and
total body fat, slowing the development of
abdominal obesity.

6. Can regular exercise make a person

smarter? Defend your answer.

Exercise stimulates the

body's nervous system, causing it to release
chemicals such
as serotonin and dopamine that make us
feel happy and calm. This helps to explain
why many people feel more alive and alert
after exercising. And if you feel better, you
can think more clearly
and concentrate better. Overall, you
can function at a higher level after exercise.

Furthermore, exercise can stimulate the

growth of new brain cells. As your brain gets
bigger, the areas associated with memory
and learning get bigger and overall
brain function improves

7. How can weakness or deficiency in one

of the health related fitness components
affect a person’s daily activities or work?

A person can’t live very long or very well

without a healthy heart or healthy lungs.
Poor health related fitness activities is linked
with heart disease,
type 2 diabetes, colon cancer, stroke,
depression, and anxiety. A moderate level of
cardiorespiratory
Ÿ fitness can help compensate for certain
health risks, including excess body fat. You
burn fewer calories. This makes you more
likely to gain weight.
Ÿ You may lose muscle strength and
endurance, because you are not using your
muscles as
much

Ÿ Your bones may get weaker and lose some

mineral content

Ÿ Your metabolism may be affected, and your

body may have more trouble breaking down
fats and sugars

8. Evaluate your current lifestyle, does it

involve enough physical activity that meets
the recommended time allotment to
maintain or improve health and wellness?
What changes could you do to improve your
fitness levels?

My current lifestyle doesn't involve enough

physical activity that meets the
recommended time allotment to maintain
and improve health and wellness. I need to
change my sedentary lifestyle into a more
productive life. I need to manage my time
well for my physical, emotional, spiritual and
mental health. I will also try to build more
relationships and surround my self with
good people.

9. How important is intensity as a part of an

exercise program? Discuss your answer.

Exercising at the same intensity every

training session will maintain fitness but will
not increase it because the training stress is
below the threshold required to produce
adaptation. When you work out at a an
adequate intensity, your body develops
and become more stronger and have
some changes in your weight, body fat
percentage, endurance, and stability.
Exercise intensity is usually described as
low, moderate, or vigorous. Fitness
increases only if the volume and intensity of
workouts increase.
