Click on the Freehand Tool in the Toolbox. This is your freehand drawing tool
and is used to create drawn objects that are not variations of rectangles, spirals
or circles.

Draw Curved Line

Choose Freehand Tool. Click and drag to draw the shape you desire. You can
release the mouse button and still continue with the same object, by clicking
close the the last node in the section you have just completed. The new line will
automatically join to the end of the last one. In the sample above, the yellow
rectangle highlights where the line was stopped and then started again.
Draw Straight Line
Click and release your mouse button to place the initial node for your line. Move
your cursor to the desired end for your line. Click the mouse to place the end
node. You can constrain the line to 15 degree increments by pressing your CTRL
key as you position the end node (use this to create a straight line). You can also
join a new line to this object as in step 2.
Change Outline
Find the Outline section of the Property Bar above your workspace. Click on the
fly-outs to select desired outline size or
style.
Freehand Tool Fly-out
Click on the triangle in the bottom right corner of the Freehand Tool to open the

Polygon or Graph Paper Tool may be showing, and you will have to click on the
triangle in the bottom right corner to open the fly-out. Choose Spiral Tool.

Draw a Symmetrical Spiral

Choose Spiral Tool. Choose number of revolutions for your spiral from the
Property bar above the workspace. Click on the Symmetrical icon. (A
symmetrical spiral has equal distance between spiral revolutions.) Click and drag
on the workspace to create spiral of desired size. Hold your CTRL key down as
you drag to create a spiral with a circular shape. Hold your SHIFT key down to
have the spiral drawn from the center.

Draw a Logarithmic Spiral

Choose Spiral Tool. Choose number of revolutions for your spiral from the
Property Bar. Click on the Logarithmic icon. (A logarithmic spiral increases the
spacing on each revolution.) Choose the Spiral Extension Factor from the
Property Bar. A lower number reduces space difference between revolutions.
Click and drag on the workspace to create spiral of desired size. Hold your CTRL
key down as you drag to create a spiral with a circular shape. Hold your SHIFT
key down to draw spiral from the center.
6.5.Polygon Tool Overview:

Choose Polygon Tool

Choose the Polygon Tool from the Toolbox. Note the position in the Toolbox.
The Spiral or Graph Paper Tool may be showing, and you will have to click on
the triangle in the bottom right corner to open the fly-out. Choose Polygon Tool.

Create Polygon
Choose Polygon Tool. Click and drag on the workspace to create a polygon of
the size and shape desired. Locate Number of Points on Polygon button on the
Property Bar. Increase or decrease number as desired. The changes in point
numbers are instantly reflected on your object

Create Star
Choose Polygon Tool. Click on the Polygon/Star button in the Property Bar
(highlighted with yellow rectangle). Click and drag on the workspace to create a
star of the size and shape desired. Locate Number of Points on Polygon button

require for your grid and enter number in the Graph Paper Column and Rows
box in the Property Bar. Click and drag to create a grid of the size and shape you
desire.

Color One Cell

The grid is created from several small rectangles grouped together. To fill one
cell, choose the Pick Tool and, with the CTRL key pressed, click on the cell. Note
how only one cell is selected. Click on any color in the color palette to fill the
cell.

6.7.Bezier Tool:
Bezier tool Click to add a node to the line. Dragging the mouse instead of just
clicking results in smooth curves. The Bezier tool is not easy to learn, but very
effective when mastered. It gives precise control over the resulting line.

The Bezier tool is closely related to the Shape tool, the Shape tool is used to edit
the nodes of the objects you create with the Bezier tool. The Bezier tool and the
shape tool share the same property bar.

After selecting a node with the shape tool, it can be moved, or manipulated
using the property bar.

6.8.Artistic Media Tool:

It Works like the freehand tool, it follows your mouse movements. But instead
of a simple curve complex objects are created, in a variety of styles. This is
supposed to make shapes looking like they were drawn with a calligraphic pen,
paint or even special effects. The type of shape can be determined with the
property in the top left of the screen. This tool can be used for creating effects.
The figure below illustrates some of the possibilities of the artistic media tool.
6.9.Pen tool :
A variety of the Bezier tool, very similar, but each line segment is already shown,
before clicking. Using this tool might be slightly easier to learn than the Bezier
tool.

6.10.Polyline tool :
A variation of the Freehand tool, this tool adds the possibility to make straight
segments in between curved segments.

6.11.Three point curve tool:

This tool can only make simple arcs, which you can also do with either the
Bezier or the pen tool. Click at the starting point, hold the mouse button and
drag to the ending point. Next move the mouse to bend the line into an arc, and
click again to finish.

6.12.Interactive connector tool :

This tool can be used to create dynamic connection lines, connecting two
objects. Dynamic means that the connection lines moves with the objects if you
move one of the objects. To do so, choose the tool, and click on a node of the
first object, drag to a node of the second object and release the mouse button.
You can now move the objects and the lines will automatically move along. You
can choose between a diagonal line and angled connection lines.

6.13.Dimension Tools:
The Dimension tool creates size labels. The sizes are automatically calculated
and represent the size of the objects in Coreldraw, it is not possible to enter
sizes yourself. Different tools exist for horizontal, vertical and diagonal lines, you
can choose them from the property bar.

6.14.Complex Shape tools:

These tools can be used to draw more complex shapes, such as polygons, stars,
spirals and graph paper.

 Polygon tool The polygon Tool draws 3 to 500 sided polygons. Select the
number of sides in the active property bar, and click and drag to draw the
polygon. After drawing the number of sides can still be changed.
 Star tool The Star Tool draws stars with 3 to 500 points. Select the number
of points in the active property bar, and click and drag to draw the star.
After drawing the number of points can be changed. Also the sharpness of
the star's points can be changed with the active property bar. This
sharpness can also be changed with the shape tool
 Complex Star Tool The Star tool draws stars with 3 to 500 points. A
complex star differs from a star in the way the arms are connected, leaving
a hole in the middle. Select the number of points in the active property
bar, and click and drag to draw the star. After drawing the number of
points can be changed. Also the sharpness of the star's points can be
changed with the active property bar.

 Graph paper tool The graph paper tool creates grids. Set the number of
rows and columns in the active property bar. Next click and drag to draw
the grid.

 Spiral Tool The Spiral tool draws spirals. Set the number of revelations in
the active property bar, and click and drag to draw the spiral.

6.15.Text Tool:
The text tool is used add text to illustrations. There are two kinds of text in
Coreldraw; artistic text and paragraph text.

Artistic text is used for small amounts of texts, usually just one or two lines, it
works well for things like headings, text effects and captions. The appearance
and placement of artistic text can be thoroughly manipulated, character per
character if necessary.
Paragraph text is used for adding large amounts of text. Instead of editing the
lines and characters, you determine the shape of a container for the text to
reside in. These containers are normally rectangular, but can be any shape you
want.

6.16.Effect tools:
The effect tools can be used to add special effects to objects, at first glance
many of these effects will seem too pronounced to be useful. But with some
trial and error many of these effects can be applied subtly and actually improve
the illustration.

1-Interactive blend tool The blend tool blends two objects by drawing
intermediate shapes. At first glance this seems to be useless for anything but
simulating evolution.

Fortunately this first impression is very wrong, it is actually the most powerful
tool Vector illustration packages have for making photorealistic illustrations. By
blending similar objects on top of each other, which differ only slightly in shape
and color, all kinds of complex shading effects can be created.

2-The Interactive Contour Tool. This tool is related to the blend tool, but
instead of blending two shapes, it blend the outline of a single object to a larger
or smaller version of the object. It adds a series of evenly spaced copies of the
outline inside or outside of the outline. Since these added contours also blend in
color, a lot of contours closely spaced together result in a smooth effect.
The effect is applied by selecting the Interactive Contour Tool, and clicking and
dragging on the object to which you want to apply the effect. Dragging to the
inside of the object results in contours added inside the object and dragging
outwards from the object, results in contours added to the outside. The exact
number of contours added and the spacing in between contours can be set
using the property bar. On the property bar it is also possible to select the color
for both fill and outline where the contour blends to.

3-Interactive Distortion Tool. This tool distorts the outline of objects. When
applied without care, it completely alters the shape of objects, but when
applied subtly, it can make objects look less geometric and appear more natural.
To use it, select a type of distortion from the active property bar, and click and
drag on the object to which you want to apply the distortion.

There are three main types of distortion; Push and pull distortion, Zipper
distortion and Twister distortion, they are illustrated in the example above

4-Interactive Drop Shadow Tool. This tool adds drop shadows to objects. Drop
shadows are very useful, they give the illusion of depth and quickly make a
drawing look more 'finished'. A drop shadow behind text, makes it easier to
read over a noisy background.

Select the tool, and click and drag on the object to which you want to apply the
shadow. The way you drag the mouse determines the type of shadow. The type
of shadow can also be selected from property bar, from the presets list. The
drop shadow effect can also be used for glow effects, for the strongest effect,
choose 'outside direction' in the 'Drop Shadow feathering direction' .
5-Interactive Envelope Tool. This tool bends entire shapes or groups of shapes,
by modifying their enveloping shape. It is useful to manipulate the entire shape
of complex objects such as text objects, or groups of objects. Choose the
Interactive Envelope tool, and select the object you want to alter. An enveloping
rectangle with eight nodes appears. Drag the nodes to alter the shape of the
envelope, and the object itself will change shape, to match the envelope.

6-Interactive Extrude Tool. This tool is used to extrude 2-dimensional objects

into 3-dimensional objects. Select the tool and click and drag on the object you
want to extrude. Different types of perspective and shading are available from
the property bar.

7-Interactive Transparency Tool. With this tool it is possible to make objects

(partially) transparent. Besides making it easy to draw transparent things like
glasses, transparent objects can be used to simulate all kinds of effects like
smoke, reflections and complex shading effects. Transparency effects can be
applied to objects by selecting the objects with the interactive transparency tool
and then choosing the type of transparency from the property bar.
6.17.Eyedropper tool flyout:
The Color eyedropper tool lets you select and copy a color from an object on
the drawing window or the desktop.

The Attributes eyedropper tool lets you select and copy object properties, such
as line thickness, size and effects, from an object on the drawing.

6.18.Outline Tool flyout:

The Outline tool opens a flyout that gives you quick access to items such as
the Outline pen dialog box and Outline color dialog box.

6.19.Fill Tool flyout:

The Fill tool opens a flyout that gives you quick access to items such as the fill
dialog boxes.
