VSTEP SPEAKING ( PART 2 )

PART 2 (4 minutes )
- 1 situation with 3 choices
- 1 minute to prepare
Ex : A group of people are planning a trip from Danang to Hanoi. There are three
means of transport : by coach, by train or by plane. Which option is the best choice?
SOME TIPS :
- Brainstorm ideas
+ 2 advantages of your options
+ some disadvantages of the other two options
Divide your speech into 3 section : Introduction, Body, Conclusion
* Introduction -> Introduce your topic and your choice ( option that you have more
ideas, not the onw you are interested in)
* Body -> Explain your choice by stating two main ideas and also give reasons why you
don’t choose the other 2 options
* Conclusion -> repeat your choice
NOTES : Use comparative and superlatives to show similaries and differences among
options
Ex : A group of people …best choice
I choose t go by plane
- Advantages : - safest and fastest
- comfortable
- Disadvantage : - longer time
- carsick, train sick, more accidents
SAMPLE :
1. While travelling form Danang to Hanoi, people can choose to go by train, plane or by
coach. In my opinon, going by plane is the best option because of the following reasons :
2. Firstly, it is the fastest and safest way. It is a one-hour flight. What’s more, according
to some statistics, going on a flight is less likely to have an accident than by coach.
Secondly, I find it very comfortable to travel by plane. You know, planes are often well-
equiped and you are provided with comfortable seats. Moreover, you are served with
drinks during your flight.
3. There are several reasons why I don’t choose the other options. The first thing is that I
often feel carsick or trainsick. Furthermore, it takes me much long time to travel by
those. Finally, taking a coach isn’t my choice because driving in Vietnam is quite
dangerous as drivers might overspeed or some coaches chase others to get passengers
4. In short, if I were in the situation, I would opt to go by plane due to the speed, safety
and comfort.
