Opens Norway's longest temporary bridge

On Wednesday, the Norwegian Public Roads Administration will open the interim bridge E6
Stavabrua in Rennebu municipality.
The bridge is the longest, temporary bridge built in Norway -with a total span of 140,
meters, of which 99 meters free span, says department director Ruth Helene Myklebust
in the Norwegian Public Roads Administration Operations and Maintenance Midt, in a
press release,
‘The existing bridge over Stavda was builtin 1942 and has in recent years had reduced
load-bearing capacity. Condition inspections have shown increasing weakening in the
construction,In order to ensure traffic safety and accessibility on the road network, the Norwegian,
Public Roads Administration (s therefore establishing a temporary bridge pending the
construction of a new route on the Nedgird - Berkak section, the Norwegian Public
Roads Administration states.
‘There has been manual traffic routing atthe existing bridge since April 2021. Only one
lane has been open, and there has also been a reduced load class. This has led to queues
and long detours for the heavy truck industry.
We are very happy that we can finally offer road users a predictable, efficient and safe
transport system over Stavaa, comments Myklebust.
‘When the new E6 route is completed in 2026, the temporary bridge will be dismantled
and included as one of the Norwegian Public Roads Administration's emergency

‘The interim bridge is dimensioned for ten tonnes of axle load and a total weight of 60
