Scenario:

A group of friends, Bryan, Tantan, Nina,

Jerfel, Ruby, and Sam, are discussing a
recent movie they watched together.
However, during the conversation, they
struggled to understand each other due
to a language breakdown. One speaks
in a foreign language or uses complex
vocabulary, while the other struggles to
comprehend.
Nina: (enthusiastically)
Hey Bryan, did you watch that recent film with the
avant-garde cinematography and the profound
existential themes?
Bryan: (confused)
Uh, what? Avant-garde... existential... What are you talking about,
Nina?
Jerfel: (enthusiastically)
How about you Tan-tan? I bet you saw how they use montage
and assemblage in the movies. It was sky rock.
Tan-tan: (confused)
Huh?? Montage? Assemblage? What on earth are you talking
about Ruby?
Sam: (Realizing the Language Breakdown)
Hey, Slow down girls. Let me explain further. They mean, did you see that
weird and artsy movie with deep, thought-provoking ideas?
Bryan: (relieved)
Ah, you mean the strange movie with the deep stuff. Yeah, I watched it. It was kind of
confusing, though. Right, Bruh?
Tan-Tan: (relieved)
Oh, yeah yeah yeah.. I just ate my pop corn and laughed when they laughed.
Nina: (smiling)
Yes, that's the one! What did you think of the plot's intricacies and the director's
allegorical storytelling?
Jerfel: (smiling)
Yes, a knotty one.
Bryan: (still puzzled)
Intricacies? Dude, you're losing us again. Just tell me, did you understand the story?
Tan-Tan: (still puzzled)
Allegorical? Yeah dude, just tell us. ‘Cmon.
Sam: (laughs)
Sorry, we got carried away. Did you like it? Do you like how the story goes?
Bryan: (nodding)
Yeah, I think so. It was different, but it made me think, I guess
Tan-tan: (relieved)
That's what I meant. It was a unique movie that made you ponder life's meaning.
Nina: (smiles)
Yeah, exactly! It was definitely thought-provoking.
In this roleplay, Nina & and Ruby
initially use complex vocabulary and
concepts, leading to a language
breakdown with Bryan and Tan-Tan.
However, they quickly adjust their
language to ensure better
understanding and continue their
conversation about the movie with
the help of Sam. This scenario can
help practice simplifying language
for effective communication.
