Edmund Hillary was a famous explorer from New Zealand who became the first person to reach the summit of Mount Everest in 1953. He climbed Mount Everest with Tenzing Norgay of Nepal, reaching the top on May 29th after carrying heavy packs. Hillary went on to build schools and hospitals in the Himalayas. He inspired many people around the world with his achievements.
