Open Ended Lab 2023

The document provides instructions for an open-ended lab assignment for an Engineering Drawing and Graphics course. Students are asked to fabricate a wooden model of a mechanical part, and draw its projections on an A2 drawing sheet using an angle of projection method and dimensions. The drawing will be evaluated based on rubrics assessing the student's knowledge of lines, shades of lead, angle of projection concepts, neatness, and time management. The deadline for submission is November 20th, 2023.

Course: Engineering Drawing and Graphics

OPEN ENDED LAB

Marks: 50 CLOs: CLO1&CLO2
Weightage: 20 Session: 2023

Engineering drawings are used to communicate design ideas and technical information to
engineers and other professionals throughout the design process. An engineering drawing
represents a complex three-dimensional object on a two-dimensional piece of paper or computer
screen by a process called projection. Engineers use drawings as part of the design and
development of a product. Drawings can show how the different parts of a product or design
interact with each other. Drawings can also give clients an idea of what the finished products
look like, which is helpful during a project's approval stage. These drawings can be useful for
showing the development history of a project.

You are supposed to fabricate a wooden model of any mechanical part of your choice and draw
its projections on a standard regular drawing sheet with exact dimensions according to any angle
of projection method of your choice.

Constraints:
Wooden Model
Drawing Sheet Size A2

Assumptions:
Angle of Projection Method
Dimensioning Units
Scale

Attribute:
Depth of engineering knowledge

Instructions:
You are supposed to submit your wooden piece with your drawing sheet.
Deadline of submission = 20th of Nov 2023
