1. Human resource functions

Introduction

Human resource management is a strategic approach towards an effective management


of people in a company. HRM is a system which is developed to satisfy its workforce
and increase its performance.

Escape to the wild have expanded the premises of its warehouse and have increased its
workforce from 20-300 as the company continues to grow and since the organization
have the need to increase its staff the company focuses on establishing a proper HR
management within the organization. In order to establish a HR division the following
key HR activities should be implemented within the organization.

 Job analysis
 Employee hiring
 Employee remuneration
 Industrial relations

Job analysis

Job analysis is the process of gathering information on a particular job on its features
and identifying the required qualifications, responsibilities and skills which should be
possessed by the employees in order to carry out the organizational activities
efficiently.

Job analysis helps in identifying the duties related to the job, identification of risks
involved with the job, identifying the skills which the employees should poses, supports
the recruitment and hiring process.

 As the organization have decided to expand its staff , with a proper job analysis
“Escape to the Wild” will be able to recognize particular job requirements which

will assist in recruiting the suitable employee, as the organization have
expanded its warehouse and decided to open five more retail outlets job analysis
will contribute to identify the job requirements.

Employee hiring

The process of identifying and appointing the most suitable individuals with the
required skills and qualifications for a particular job can be known as employee hiring.

Labor is the most important resource within an organization. Hiring the correct
employee for a particular job is very important. In order to carry out the tasks of the job
effectively and efficiently the most suitable candidate should be hired for it. Employee
hiring plays a huge role within an organization where it will benefit the company if it is
done in a proper way.

 As in Escape to the wild the company is growing where it have increased the
scale of its ware house and plans to expand its business more by opening 5 new
retail outlets so as the company grows it opens up new job opportunities so the
recruitment process should be done in an effective manner where the qualified
candidates should be recruited for the job so that unnecessary recruitment can be
avoided. So the senior management should be more concerned on having a good
recruitment process as the employees is the most valuable resource within the
organization

Employee remuneration

Employee remuneration is the cash compensations an employee receives for the


contribution for the work process of an organization. It leads to employee motivation
because remuneration provides a basic attraction towards the employees.

With the employee remuneration the organization can increase the performance of
employees due to the compensation provided to them. It act as a strategic approach
which is used to motivate employees to get the best out of them and attract new
employees.

 As in Escape to the wild the management faces issues regarding employee pay.
Also the company’s finance section wastes its time due to dealing with
employee pay related issues, senior managers voicing out their concerns
regarding spending too much time on employee issues. By implementing a
proper employee remuneration the organization can solve these issues where the
employees will stay motivated without a dissatisfaction.

Industrial relations

Industrial relations is the relationship between the employer and employee within an
organization. Fair employment policies and procedures fall under industrial relations
Main purpose is to settle industrial disputes and to maintain fair employment policies
and practices for equality.

The organizational work would be carried out without much issues which will help to
maintain the continuity of productivity, increase overall organization efficiency and
effectiveness.

 As is Escape to the wild, the work force have increased from 20-300 within the
past few years. Throughout the period the employees have had concerns on the
unfair approach by the senior management towards HR related issues and as the
organization decides to increase its staff in the future, industrial relations will
play a role in order to maintain a healthy relationship between employer and
employee. Also it would assist the senior management to deal with HR issues in
a fair way.

2. HRM structure
a) Human resource structure
Human resource structure is a layout which shows how the managers and employees
should be appointed hierarchy and it’s a structure which shows the hierarchy, reporting
lines and authority within the HR division of the organization.

As in escape to the wild the HR division should be well organized in order to control all
300 employees, to have a proper control there should be a solid HR structure which
would help in managing the human resources.

b) Senior management responsibilities

Senior management is a group of individuals at the highest level of an organization.


They are the managers who manage and monitor the organization in order to reach the
goals and objectives of the organization.

Human resource is a part which every manager should be concerned because employees
are present in every department of the organization. So every senior management level
should contribute towards the human resource.

Some of the responsibilities of the senior management in Escape to the wild are listed
below.

 Finance manager involving in maintaining records on expenses


incurred on HR related activities with the HR director
 Supervising the staff in regard to maintaining employee relations
and ensuring safety of the employees
 Preparation of industrial policies and procedures to be followed
 Setting up goals and objectives to be achieved by the employees

c) Rationale for management information system (MIS)

Management information system is a computer system which consists of hardware and


software which acts as an information processing tool used to provide information
supporting the business activities, MIS supports the decision making process of the
organization.

 Escape to the wild is a company which have expanded its market and its scale of
the company. Implementation of MIS within the organization will benefit it as
company have expanded its mail order catalog, being able to increase its sales
due to the online platform set up and will be able to identify the customer needs
and could make decisions based on them.

 MIS will contribute in storing information such as employee pay and their
information and will be able to store the past and present records of the
organization
 MIS will contribute in sharing information and communicating activities where
necessary info could be shared among departments of escape to the wild and
customers will be able to communicate as it acts as a portal for customers and
the company could obtain their feedbacks

As the organization is currently growing MIS would play a huge role in setting a clear
pathway towards the success of Escape to the wild in the near future.

Benefits from HR function towards employees of Escape to the Wild

When the HR function is implemented within Escape to the wild the organization could
correct its issues relating to the workforce while avoiding a drop in its growth. With the
organization expanding its employees up to 300 it have been facing issues such as the
absence of employee discipline, no proper employee policies, senior management
spending time on issues of employee pay.

With the presence of HR functions the organization would be able carry out its
activities and through it the employees would gain several benefits.

 Employees will develop their skills through the training provided to them
and would uplift the professional standards, employee training will help to
identify the potential skills that an employee can improve.
 Employee remuneration will motivate its employees as for the reasonable
pay received for the effort put in by them and with a properly structured pay
system it will help to retain its existing employees and attract new
individuals.
 HR functions helps in building up a culture and values within escape to the
wild where it helps employees to bring out the best out of them and creates a
higher job satisfaction.
 HR function plays the role in maintaining safety and health in the workplace
which safeguards the employees.
 HR function contributes to assists with grievance matters, providing
counselling options to its employees.
