 As medicine experts, pharmacists hold the responsibility to deliver effective, safe, and
quality medicines and services to achieve optimal health outcomes. Competency in their
discipline and up-to-date knowledge, therefore, are pharmacists' core in tailoring
information and advice to their patients.
2. Discuss the scope of pharmacy and the functions of pharmacist:
a. Regulatory control and drug management
 Specialized pharmaceutical professionals or regulatory pharmacists help ensure that
pharmaceutical regulations are met. These professionals interface with government
regulatory agencies and pharmaceutical businesses to facilitate the transition from a
drug's conception to the final approval.
b. Community pharmacy
 Definition Community pharmacy Community pharmacy means any place under the direct
supervision of a pharmacist where the practice of pharmacy occurs or where prescription
orders are compounded and dispensed other than a hospital pharmacy or a limited service
pharmacy.
c. Hospital Pharmacy
 Hospital pharmacy is the health care service, which comprises the art, practice, and
profession of choosing, preparing, storing, compounding, and dispensing medicines and
medical devices, advising patients, doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals on
their safe, effective and efficient use.
d. Industrial Pharmacy
 Industrial pharmacists specialize in the development of new pharmaceutical goods. This
area of pharmacy focuses on the production, quality control and marketing of new drugs
and medications
e. Academe
 The category often refers to those who belong to a university faculty, specifically a
college of pharmacy, though it can include serving as a college dean and teaching in an
off-campus or classroom setting.
