This study examined the relationship between reading comprehension and working memory in children. It assessed reading comprehension and working memory in 144 children between the ages of 8 and 12 years old. The results showed that reading comprehension is related to working memory capacity and that this relationship increases with age as children develop. Working memory explains individual differences in reading comprehension.
