ACTIVITY No. 3

1. Explain the diagram on globalization in education. See

ANSWER:

In essence, globalization is about the world becoming increasingly interconnected.

Countries today are more connected than ever before, due to factors such as air travel,
containerized sea shipping, international trade agreements and legal treaties, and the Internet.
In the world of business, globalization is associated with trends such as outsourcing, free
trade, and international supply chains.

Globalization is the spread of products, technology, information, and jobs across

national borders and cultures. In economic terms, it describes an interdependence of nations
around the globe fostered through free trade.

Globalization captures in its scope the economic and social changes that have come
about as a result. Globalization is a term used to describe how trade and technology have
made the world into a more connected and interdependent place.

Globalization has of course led to great good, too. Richer nations now can—and do—
come to the aid of poorer nations in crisis. Increasing diversity in many countries has meant
more opportunity to learn about and celebrate other cultures. The sense that there is a global
village, a worldwide “us,” has emerged.

Politically, globalization has shifted attention to intergovernmental organizations like

the United Nations (UN) and the World Trade Organization (WTO).Legally, globalization
has altered how international law is created and enforced.

On one hand, globalization has created new jobs and economic growth through the
cross-border flow of goods, capital, and labor. On the other hand, this growth and job
creation are not distributed evenly across industries or countries.

It is important because one of the most powerful forces affecting the modern world, so
much so that it can be difficult to make sense of the world without understanding
globalization. For example, many of the largest and most successful corporations in the world

are in effect truly multinational organizations, with offices and supply chains stretched right
across the world. These companies would not be able to exist if not for the complex network
of trade routes, international legal agreements, and telecommunications infrastructure that
were made possible through globalization. Important political developments, such as the
ongoing trade conflict between the United States and China, are also directly related to
globalization.

2. Due to globalization the advancement of technology is inevitable. This has had a huge
impact on the business, government, and the labor market. One of its obvious examples is
the self-ordering system in fast food chains. This system poses a problem to manpower
especially in EMPLOYMENT since the machine is already replacing human works.

imposes many challenges; to compete, countries need to adapt to the
reality of the market place. This calls for flexible economic structures and
monetary and fiscal discipline.

The traditional nature of “work” might disappear due the rapid advances in technology, while
at the same time creating new and innovative occupations in favor of the highly specialized
professions.
An increase in hidden unemployment, a lack of new job openings, and a deterioration of real
wage rates are the consequences of globalization in most developing economies, which were
unable to adapt the new technologies.
In additions policies of structural adjustment such as privatization imply an increase
in unemployment since privatization is accompanied usually by a reduction in the demand for
labor. Trade flows lead to shifts in the demand for labor, as more workers are needed in
newly profitable sectors and fewer in unprofitable sectors.
If the supply of labor is fixed these demand changes lead to a rise in wages to more profitable
industries

2.1. What skills should be developed by students in preparation for this market system?

ANSWER:

Today, more than 80 percent of jobs are in the service sector, which includes high-
growth, high-wage and high-skilled occupations in new and emerging industries. In this new,
globally interconnected economy, companies have changed how they are organized and the
way they do business. Technology has supported these changes, which include flatter
management structures, decentralized decision making, information sharing and the use of
task teams, cross-organizational networking, just-in-time inventory and flexible work
arrangements.

Individuals must be able to perform non-routine, creative tasks if they are to succeed.
While skills like self-direction, creativity, critical thinking, and innovation may not be new to
the 21st century, they are newly relevant in an age where the ability to excel at non-routine
work is not only rewarded, but expected as a basic requirement. Whether a high school
graduate plans to enter the workforce directly, or attend a vocational school, community
college, or university, it is a requirement to be able to think critically, solve problems,
communicate, collaborate, find good information quickly, and use technology effectively.
These are today’s survival skills— not only for career success, but for personal and civic
quality of life as well

The opportunity to establish a vibrant vision for educator preparation, one that
leverages the best of what has worked in the past, combined with what educators need now,
and in the future also in order to prepare all students for the future they deserve. It is more
important than ever that we support all educators in developing 21st century knowledge and
skills among their students, so they are ready to meet the needs of the global economy,
engage in good citizenship, and participate fully in a vibrant and civil society

2.2. As a future teacher, what program or course can be added in the curriculum that will help
people to have job despite modernization?

ANSWER:

There’s no doubt that teachers have the power to transform the lives of their students
inside the classroom, but there are other education career paths that may better suit your skills
and interests.

Teaching is certainly the most commonly known career path for students earning a
degree in education, and it’s a great option if you like working with children or adults in a
classroom setting. Teachers prepare and educate their students for the world. Their subject
matter depends on the age they are instructing, ranging from math and reading basics up until
specialty courses taught in higher education. Teachers also have the ability to work in
different environments; primarily traditional schools but also online options.

We/you could teach online, in a residential facility, or as part of literacy or other

education-related non-profit programs. If you’re looking to teach at the college and university
level, you generally will need to earn at least a master’s degree. Regardless of the teaching
path you choose, you are sure to make a real and lasting difference in the lives of others!

In addition to teaching student’s specific subject matter in the classroom, teachers

strive to help students develop the lifelong learning tools they’ll need to succeed in the future.
Math lessons can help students work on problem-solving skills, group projects can help
students work on their communication skills, and history lessons can help students appreciate
cultures other than their own. So here are some programs or some guide that will help
students to know their real interest and the desired job that they want in the future.

 Prepare lessons that will engage and challenge students

 Create assignments that will connect lessons to a bigger concept
 Vary teaching style to keep students’ attention and meet their needs
 Participate in after-school clubs or tutoring
 Meet with parents to discuss a student’s progress
 Become involved in professional organizations
