The document describes a proposed housing project called 'Hogar' that would adaptively reuse the historic El Hogar Filipino Building in Manila. The design combines art deco and tropical styles and incorporates green walls, solar panels, and rainwater harvesting to make the building more sustainable. It proposes repurposing the structure for mixed uses like housing and integrating modern eco-friendly technologies. This would preserve the past while making the building suitable for the future. The project also serves as an example of vertical housing to maximize space and reduce urban sprawl in an affordable way.

DESIGN CONCEPT ‘HOGAR’: HOME (Housing Opportunities Made for

Economically Challenged People)

CONCEPT STYLE
The design is a combination of art deco and tropical style.
This project breathes new life into the historic El Hogar
Filipino Building in Manila by infusing it with innovative
technologies and sustainable features. Green walls adorn the
building's facades, not only enhancing its aesthetic appeal
but also improving air quality and providing a green oasis
within the urban landscape. Solar panels are integrated into
the structure to harness renewable energy, reducing
electricity costs and carbon footprint. A rainwater harvesting
system ensures efficient water management, easing the
burden on local water resources.

SPACE PROGRAMMING ‘HOGAR’: HOME (Housing Opportunities Made for
Economically Challenged People)

The Circulation Area should not be compromised. As a general planning “rule of thumb,”
Circulation Area comprises roughly 25 to 40% of the total Usable Area. Planning for this
allotment will better ensure that the programmed Usable Area will represent the space
needed to accommodate the future workplace, in most fairly efficient buildings.
