1. State and prove Hydrostatics law of a fluid.
2. State and prove Pascal’s Law.
3. Explain (i) different types of fluid. (ii) effect of temperature on viscosity.
4. Derive continuity equation in Rectangular co-ordinates for a fluid flow element.
5. Demonstrate the experiment to determine the viscosity of an unknown oil using Saybolt Viscometer.
6. Define following terminologies:
i. Steady flow and Unsteady flow
ii. Uniform and Non-uniform flow
iii. Laminar and Turbulent flow
iv. Compressible and Incompressible flow.
v. One, two and three dimensional flow.

7. Obtain the Euler’s equation of motion along a stream line and hence derive Bernoulli’s equation for a steady
incompressible fluid flow. State the assumptions made.
8. Derivation an expression for discharge through the venture meter with its usual notations.
9. Deduce an expression for discharge through V Notch.
10. Demonstrate the experiment to determine the coefficient of impact of a given flat and curved vanes.
11. Derivation an expression for orifice meter with usual notations.
12. Demonstrate the experiment to determine the coefficient of discharge of V and Rectangular Notch.

13. Derive Hagen Poiseuille equation for laminar flow through a circular pipe.
14. Derive Chezy’s equation of head loss for a fluid flowing through circular pipe.
15. Derive Darcy Weisbach equation of head loss for a fluid flowing through circular pipe.
16. Demonstrate the Reynolds experiment for determination of different regimes of flow.
17. Demonstrate the experiment to determine of head loss due to minor losses in a pipe
18. Demonstrate the experiment to determine of head loss and coefficient of friction of a pipe.
19. Starting from the first principles, show that for a laminar flow between fixed parallel plates, the mean
velocity is two-third that of the maximum velocity.

20. Briefly explain the phenomena of boundary layer separation.


21. Demonstrate the experiment to determination of coefficient of lift and drag of standard objects (Aero foil)

26. What are the applications of CFD in Aerospace and Automobile industries? Explain the advantages and
disadvantages CFD using examples.
27. Define Mach number. With neat sketches, explain the propagation of disturbances for M=1, M<1 and M>1.
28. Explain the steps involved in study of flow over a cylinder using any CFD Package.
