IBPS PO is a highly competitive exam and to achieve the cutoff marks, the aspirants

should have a good understanding of the topics. Apart from that, the candidates
should have in-depth knowledge about the IBPS PO exam pattern and syllabus. All the
aspirants are advised to improve their test-taking skills with utmost confidence.
It is important to note here that the aspirants must know the detailed syllabus
before they move on to the preparations. They must remember that the Prelims
Syllabus is different from that of Mains. The section-wise preparation tips both
for Prelims and Mains exams are given here. English Language Section
To ace the preparation of the English section, the candidates should focus on their
reading and comprehension abilities. They must get hold of the best IBPS PO books
and see what suits them.
• Improvement in reading habits. It will, in turn, help them to boost up
their reading speed and their vocabulary stock can also be improved.
• It will reduce the grammatical errors in their write-up and can also
improve the sentence structures.
• To improve their vocabulary section, the candidates should learn new
words, their meaning, and the execution of the words in the sentences.
• The aspirants are also advised to read the editorial section of
newspapers such as The Hindu, The Economist, and The Indian Express, etc.
• For getting a good score in the grammar section, practice the topics
like error spotting, cloze test, fill in the blanks as much as possible.

Quantitative Aptitude Section


This section is a critical part of IBPS PO exam. They can start their preparation
for the Quantitative Aptitude section with the topics like Average, Percentages,
Profit and loss, Time and work, etc. One should clear their concept for answering
the questions from these sections. • To attempt a decent number of questions
from this section, the aspirants should work on a good calculation speed.
• All the aspirants are advised to memorize the multiplication tables
till 30 along with the Squares and Cubes of the natural numbers.
• The candidates should also practice some important topics like
quadratic equations, simplification, and number series for improving their
calculation speed.
• They must learn some short-cuts to solve the questions which would help
them save their time.
• The Data Interpretation unit of Quantitative Aptitude carries huge
marks. Hence, all the aspirants should give extra focus on it to uplift their
proficiency level.

Reasoning Ability Section


The Reasoning Ability section covers a number of topics such as Blood Relation,
Coding-Decoding, Syllogism, Arrangement based, etc. It is a part of both Prelims
and Mains Syllabus.

• All the aspirants are advised to well-verse with the basic concepts
before they move on to developing tricks and shortcuts.
• Once they are thorough with the topics, the candidates should switch to
the time-bound practice method.
• The candidates should gradually attempt the higher difficulty level
questions.

General Awareness and Descriptive Section


• The appearing candidates can read newspapers daily
• Also, the candidates must read magazines and books. It will, in turn,
help them to ace both their current affairs and grammatical knowledge.
Computer Knowledge Section
This section is incorporated in the reasoning part of IBPS PO Mains exam. The
candidates, who will appear for the IBPS PO Mains exam, should go through the
Computer Knowledge sectional test. They can also check the IBPS PO question papers
in order to prepare better. In this exam, the basic knowledge of the computer
ability of the aspirants will be tested. Being a Probationary Officer, the
candidates have to work effortlessly on the computer.
