Vibration 2 Sep 06, 2021

1. Rayleigh's method is used to determine the natural frequency of vibration of a massless rigid beam with a mass attached at its mid-span. 2. The system consists of a massless rigid beam of length 2L with a mass m attached at the mid-span. The mass is allowed to vibrate vertically while the beam ends are fixed. 3. Using Rayleigh's method and neglecting the mass of the beam, the natural frequency of vibration is calculated to be √(k/m) where k is the spring constant of the beam.
