This geotechnical investigation report summarizes soil testing conducted for a proposed aqueduct construction project near Jagepur Ghassa Village, Kanpur, India. 18 boreholes were dranged and soil samples were collected from depths ranging from 1.5 to 15 meters based on standard penetration and undisturbed sampling tests. The samples were analyzed in a laboratory to determine properties like bearing capacity, settlement potential, and maximum allowable settlement. The report includes bore logs, test results, and recommendations for foundation design based on the soil conditions.

LABORATORY TESTS:
The following laboratory tests wera conducled to determine the engineering
characteristics of sub-soils:

Natural moisture contents were determined by oven drying method as per IS 2720
(Part ll)-1973. The results have been reported in result sheet attached.
Dry and Bulk density of soil strata were obtained using Shelby tubes in accordance with
IS 2720 (Part XXIX)-1975. The results have been reported in result sheet attached.

Particle size analysis test by hydrometer method were performed in accordance with
IS 2720 (Part IV) - 1965 on the part of soil samples obtained after the sieve analysis The
results have been reported in resut sheet attached.

Atterberg Limits' tests were performed in accordance with IS 2720 (Part V) - 1985 and
results have been reported in result sheet attached.

Specific gravity tests were performed in accordance with IS 2720 (Part II Section1) -
1980 and the results have been reported in result sheet attached.

Triaxial Compression Test under Unconsolidated Un-drained (UU) condition as per IS

2720 (Part-Xl)-2011 were performed on the undisturbed soil samples obtained during the
field investigation. The results have been reported in result sheet attached.

Direct shear tests were performed as per IS 2720 (Part XIll)-2015, on the undisturbed
soil samples obtained during the field investigation. The results and the density of
samples have been reported in result sheet attached.

Consolidation tests were performed as per IS 2720 (Part XV)-1986. on the

undisturbed soil samples obtained during the field investigation. The result in the form of
compression index (Cc) is reported in result sheet attached.

INTERPRETATION OF THE LAB TEST RESULTS

GENERAL NATURE OF SOIL STRATA
The results of lab tests and bore hole log charts of bore holes 01,02 and 03 indicate that
the strata at the site is found to comprise of both cohesive as well as non-cohesive soil.
The cohesive type soil comprises of either silty clay soil of low and mediurn plasticity
and compressibility belonging to 'CL' and 'CI' group of IS classification.
However, the non-cohesive type soil is found to comprise of sandy silt ML type soil
group of IS classification.
The results of classification tests indicate that the natural soil stratum present at the Site
is found to comprise of both fine-grained soils (clayey soil) from 5.50m to terrnination
depth and coarse-grained soils (sandy soil) is from EGL to 5.50m depth.
S.P.I. VALUES
However, the S.P.T. values obtained in the respective sandy layer region present as per
bore-log charts enclosed are found to range from 8 to 13 indicating Loose' to 'Medium
relative density.
The S.P.T. values obtained in the respective clayey layer region present as per bore-iog
charts enclosed are found to range from 14 to 32 indicating 'Stiff to Very stiff
consistency.
is 'Loose' to ell'
The results of S.P.T. values indicate that the stratum at the Site
Compacted.
WATER TABLE
to 1.58 metre below
Water Table at the Site was observed at a depth from 15.0 metre
table may rise in
ground level on the day of soil investigation. However, the existing water
table at ground level has been
the post-monsOon period in general. Therefore, a water
adopted for calculation purposes.

NOTE: -
The above recommendations are based on the field investigation data results and the
laboratory tests results of the samples collected from the test locations and our
experience in this regard. If the actual sub-soil conditions during excavation for the
foundations differ from that has been reported, a reference should be made to us for

suggestions.
Further, the recommendations are based on the assumptions as mentioned in the Report
as
and the designer of the Structure should take into consideration all the factors required
per codes. The recommendations should be taken as guidelines for the designer.
