Outcome Reflections

Writing the major assignment draft helped the author reflect on their literacy practices and writing process. They realized how much their practices have changed over time due to influences like ESOL programs and literacy sponsors. It also helped them identify strengths like narrative writing and using creativity, which fuels their writing. The author chose which questions to answer based on being able to provide an in-depth response and allowing their writing to flow in a connected, cohesive manner using personal experiences to link both questions.

1.

How has writing your Major Assignment Draft helped you reflect on your own
literacy practices?

Writing my major assignment draft has allowed me to reflect on my literacy practices

as I never really had a deep look back on the writing practices that I have had
throughout my life or school. I had always thought that I used to write in the same
manner growing up until high school, but this draft has shown me how much I’ve
changed and what specific events in my life have caused these changes to happen
such as my experience with ESOL program, or having the privilege to learn under
some amazing literacy sponsors which have all change how I view me literacy, and
the practices I use. It has been eye-opening to see how I see all these changes, and
events in my own eyes, talking about them allowed me to see how I felt about them
and my literacy practices.

2. How has it helped you reflect on you own writing practices and your drafting
process?

It has helped me reflect on my own writing practices and drafting process by allowing
me to pinpoint specific practices that I must use more, whether it be because I
genuinely enjoy them, or because they are just flat-out better. I am a person who
when given a task by the book, or too analytical gets bored, and while I still complete
the task, if the task allows me to use more of my brain and creativity I seem to enjoy
it a lot more, and tend to put more effort into the writing. I was able to figure out I am
a more narrative writer, and creativity fuels my writing. But along with this, it has
shown me a more adept and simple way to draft my writing. This is the first draft and
while of course needs work, as they always do, I feel that my choices are more
cohesive and more well-placed and set up rather than just throwing up words on a
page that make no sense like before.

3. What choices did you make in choosing what to write and why?

The choices I made in choosing what to write were based on which questions I was able to
answer the most in-depth and those that allowed me to be able to write in the manner I want, the
way I want it to flow. So I tried to choose two questions to answer that I can connect, and I can
use my person experiences to connect both questions to form a more cohesive and well-rounded
question. Rather than answering one question and using experiences to answer it, I can answer
two questions and use experiences to connect along with answering both.
