Module 8-STRUCTURE ITEM

This document outlines the procedures for constructing a reinforced concrete beam. It includes descriptions of the necessary formwork, reinforcement materials, and concreting process. The document provides step-by-step explanations of building the formwork, bending and tying the reinforcement bars, and mixing and pouring the concrete. Pictures and diagrams supplement the written instructions. The objective is to introduce the materials, equipment, and practical techniques for constructing a reinforced concrete beam.

INTRODUCTION

Building Structure" means the foundations, floor/ceiling slabs, roofs, exterior

walls, exterior glass and mullions, columns, beams, shafts (including elevator
shafts), stairs, stairwells, elevators, Building mechanical, electrical and
telephone closets, Common Areas, public areas, and any other structural
components in the building. The Building Structure excludes the Leasehold
Improvements (and similar improvements to other premises) and the
Mechanical Systems.

1
–OBJECTIVE

Structural system, in building construction, the particular method of

assembling and constructing structural elements of a building so that they
support and transmit applied loads safely to the ground without exceeding the
allowable stresses in the members.
