INTRODUCTION TO AUTOCAD:
AutoCAD is a widely used computer-aided design (CAD) software application
developed by Autodesk. It has been an industry standard for drafting and designing for
many years. AutoCAD provides a platform for creating 2D and 3D drawings and models
used in various fields, including architecture, engineering, construction, manufacturing,
and more. Here's an introduction to AutoCAD:

1. Purpose of AutoCAD: AutoCAD is primarily used for creating detailed drawings and 3D
models of objects or structures. It's a versatile tool that helps professionals visualize,
design, and document their ideas and projects.
2. Two-Dimensional (2D) Drafting: AutoCAD is renowned for its 2D drafting capabilities.
It allows users to create precise, scaled drawings that include geometrical shapes, lines,
text, and symbols. These drawings are commonly used for architectural plans, electrical
schematics, and more.
3. Three-Dimensional (3D) Modeling: AutoCAD also supports 3D modeling. Users can
create 3D representations of objects, buildings, or mechanical components. This is
invaluable for visualizing designs in a more realistic way and for certain industries like
product design and architecture.
4. User Interface: AutoCAD features a user-friendly interface with a command line and
toolbar. Users can interact with the software by typing commands or using the graphical
interface, making it accessible to both novice and experienced users.
5. Drawing Tools: AutoCAD offers a variety of drawing and editing tools. You can draw
lines, arcs, circles, and polygons with precision. Additionally, it provides tools for
dimensioning, hatching, and adding annotations.

PERFORMANCE:

Making a rough sketch for the first floor of the first floor of the civil department

- we have drawn the first floor of the civil department. It conatins Bathrooms, Classes, Lobby,
Corridor,Senior Faculty and faculty offices along with staff offices and some labs and two
staircaseswhich are in the circular form somehow .

 BASIC Design:
- First of all a generaL design is made for the first floor of the department
At last this should be made sure that plan is made according to the functionality.

 Design:
- The final sketch and the drawing is made using AutoCAD, which includes comprehensive
floor plans for offices, labs, and the location of staircases.
- Include structural components as necessary.

TOOLS/ACCESSORIES USED:
 LINE COMMAND:

In AutoCAD, straight-line segments are made using the Line command. To

draw a line, you must give both the beginning and ending points. It's one of the
fundamental AutoCAD tools for producing 2D geometry.

 POLY-LINE COMMAND:
The Polyline command in AutoCAD creates a continuous object
composed of connected line segments and arcs. It's used to efficiently draw
complex shapes, paths, and outlines as a single entity. Polylines are versatile for
design, editing, and data extraction, making them essential for drafting in various
industries.

 Text Command:
The Text command in AutoCAD allows users to insert textual information,
such as labels, notes, dimensions, and annotations, into their drawings. It provides
options for text style, size, and formatting. This function is essential for adding
informative and descriptive text to drawings, enhancing their clarity and usability.

 Circle Command:
The Circle command in AutoCAD is used to create perfect circles by
specifying the center point and radius or diameter. It's essential for drafting and
designing geometric shapes, curves, and features. Circles are commonly employed for
representing objects like wheels, holes, and other circular elements in drawings.

 Arc Command:

The Arc command in AutoCAD is used to draw circular or curved

segments. Users specify the arc's center, radius, and start and end angles to
create arcs of varying shapes. It is crucial for creating curved lines and defining
circular features in drawings, enhancing design precision and versatility.

 Trim Command:

The Trim command in AutoCAD is used to remove unnecessary portions of

lines, arcs, or other objects that intersect with a cutting edge. It streamlines drawings by
trimming intersecting elements, enhancing clarity, and ensuring precision. This command is vital
for creating clean and accurate drawings and designs.

 Offset Command:

The Offset command in AutoCAD is used to create parallel copies of lines, arcs, and other
objects at a specified distance. It's essential for tasks like generating concentric shapes,
creating offset boundaries, and maintaining consistent spacing between objects. This tool aids
in design accuracy and efficient drafting.

 Layer Command:
The Layer command in AutoCAD manages the organization and visibility of drawing
elements. It allows users to group and categorize objects, control their properties (like color, line
type, and thickness), and toggle their visibility. Layers are essential for maintaining a structured
and organized drawing, making it easier to work on complex projects.

 Copy & Move Command:

The Move and Copy commands in AutoCAD facilitate the relocation or duplication
of objects within a drawing. Move transfers an object to a new position, while Copy
creates a duplicate. Both commands are crucial for rearranging and replicating design
elements, aiding in precise layout adjustments and efficient design iteration.

 OSnap Command:

The "OSNAP" (Object Snap) command in AutoCAD assists in precise

drawing by allowing users to snap to specific points on existing objects. It provides snap
points like endpoints, midpoints, intersections, and more. OSNAP enhances accuracy by
ensuring objects align correctly, making it an essential tool for drafting and design.

 Ortho Command:

The "Ortho" command in AutoCAD enforces a straight-line drawing mode by

restricting cursor movement to horizontal or vertical directions. It ensures objects are drawn in a
perfectly straight alignment, simplifying the creation of orthogonal lines and maintaining
geometric precision in drawings, especially when working with grids or architectural plans.
