INTRODUCTION The DYNA MYTE 2402 is a@ three axis comouter controlled precision miniature machine. It features precision ground and harcenec Slides, adjustable gids, preloaced lead screws and a maintenance free precision hiph speed spindle. It has been designe anc factory adjusted to provide long trouble-free service wher it is properly maintaines. User maintenance is mirimal and consists only of oiling and periodic gib adjustment (as reauires). Mecnarical parts that are subject to wear are easily replaceable. Electrical circuits are all modularized for easy replacemerit. This Manual previces all the information necessary for maintenance and service of the machine. Ar accompanying Operating anc Programming Manual describes the operation cf tne machine. HEAD ELEVATOR POST \ SPEED CHANGE BELT zs woos ence ‘SPEED CONTROL / ‘QUILL UPDOWN TROL LEVER. It will provide long. trouble-free service if it is proverly maintained and adjusted. Tne required maintenance procedures are simple and are described in the following sections. BREAK-IN OPERATION The breau-in pericd is approximately 24 hours. Prior ta start of ozeraticn the machine should be lubricated for proper operation. During the breaw-in perioo the machine should not be excessively leacec. De not use a heavy workpiece or maximum cutting speed or feec rates. The User Exercise described in tne Ooerating Manual is a gecd first machining routine, since it familiarizes the user with tne machine coeration and provides an easy break-in of the machine. During this perica, the X, Y, and Z slides will bed in to each other ard the cil may become excessively contaminated cue to this initial wear-in, The slides and the soirdle surface snculd be inspected frequently dring this pericd for evicence of dirty cil. If evicert, the surfaces should be cleaned with a soft clotn moisterec with the same oil and the slides should be re- lubriceted. The snindle bearings have been permanently ubricatee with a high quality lubricant. No further lubrication ef the scindle is necessary until it neecs reslacement QILING “he most important maintenance routine is prover and daily ciling. This protects the machine from corrosion, excessive wear. ne interval of lubrication, the lubrication pints and the tyoe ef cil to be used are shown in the CENTRALIZED SUERICATION SYSTEM diagram. A list of suitable oils is given in Table 1. Use only the recommended oi1 and do not mix oils of cifferent tyses ar use heavy o21 for lubrication. Inspect the slides often for evicence of discolored or dirty ci If this is opservec, lubricate the slides ever if it is not tne routine oiling time. Keep the slides clean of all debris anc metal particles by wiping them off with a soft cloth moistenec in cil. DQ NOT CLEGN SLIDES OR E IN AIR GUN as this will force particles between the slides. These provice for maintaining tne accuracy of tne machine table movement as the taper gibs wear-ir. When tne taver Gibs wear-in, the clearance between the slides increases. This results in loss cf taple accuracy, sauareress, and parallelism. It also results in chatter, poor surface finish, and excessive loads on the lead screws and drive motors. All slides snoulc be inspectec for looseness periodically. If looseness is detectea tne taser pibs snculd be acjustec. Eaci taper gid is heid im olace oy an adjusting screw and a locxing screw, as snown in figure 4 To adjust the taper gib, loosen the locking screw and tighten the adjusting screw clocwwise slipntly until a slight drag is felt. When the correct setting is reached, tighten the locking screw. In the event of overtightening the aojusting screw, the siide ic not move smoothly when the macnine has beer, started. In this case, icesen tne adjusting screw and tighten tne locking scres a little bit for loosening the taper gib. Then the reacjusting car, be cone according to tne same procedures Sescribed asove. These bearinos have beer carefully acjusted at the factory and snould not be tampered with, If the spindle exhibits signs of wear or excessive neat the entire spindle assembly shculd be reolaced. MECHANICAL REPAIRS The soincle drive belt, the soindle assembly and the X, Y, and Z table lead screws and supernuts are subject to wear, ard may need replacement after long pericds cf operation. The replacement proceoures are cescribed below. BELT & PLACEMENT Replace tne belt if it snows signs of wear. Tne belt can be easily removed by raising it slipntiy above tne pulley at tne point woere it contacts the pulley, and simultanecusly rotating the pulley clockwise. Replace the belt ard adjust the belt tersicr, To adjust tne tension on the belt and to compensate for tolerance in the leroth of the belt the spindie drive can be moves in 2 mm increments. To mave the spindle motor locsen tne ur hexagonal head bolts (Item #72 of SPINDLE HOUSING ASSEMBLY) arc move the motor until belt tension is satisfactory. De not put tos much tension on the belt as this will put a load on the stincie and will result in excessive heating of the soincle. Drilling capacity mile Stee? You are Gisconnecting controller from machine or desktop unit without first ewitcning off power. This will scramble the memory. &. Program runs occasionally off at random. This is due t electrial noise coming down the line from other machines. Tr anctner outlet. Always avoid cutlets wired to larce macnines. 3. May occur wher line number G22 as ignorec and program start is on a different line number of HagDwaRi 1. Sticking axis - Inadequate lubrication is usually at fault. Run axis test (diagnostics in manual moce) to check axis while lubricating. Only after exhausting ctner service procecures, shoulc you adjust gibs. 2. Large variations in backlash measurments - Contamination of liwit switches. They should be free and clear of dirt, cil, grime and cter debris. Large inaccurate backlash will produce circles skewed at @ anc 18@ cr 92 and 270 deprees. cx of keystroxe response - Contamination of keyboare with cil, Girt, or protective covering, city hanes, missing or faulty orcund at outlet, or limit switches filled witn metal 4, Inoperative axis — Loose axis plup at socket.
